Maplin has partnered with Shutl to bring you a new same day delivery service and add even more convenience to your shopping experience with Maplin. The Maplin and Shutl partnership provides a same day delivery service for reservations, letting you arrange for your reservation to be collected from a Maplin store and delivered to your home or office at a time convenient to you.
Shutl provides two delivery options:
"Now!" - ASAP delivery within as little as 90 minutes.
"When?" - Choose a 1-hour delivery window up to 13 days in advance.
How does the Maplin - Shutl service work?back to top
When placing your order online, if you live within our catchment area, you will be offered the opportunity to have your product collected from a Maplin store and delivered to your chosen address.
Whilst going through the Maplin checkout on the address page simply select your choice of "Now!" or "When?", Shutl will then generate a quote for your delivery. You can obtain a quote for delivery with no commitment to use the service.
Once you have paid for both the product and the cost of the Shutl delivery charge you will receive an email or text message to confirm your order is ready for collection by Shutl. The Maplin standard Terms and Conditions of sale still apply to the product.
Shutl's clever technology matches individual deliveries in real-time to the optimum carrier according to who is best suited to that specific job, taking into consideration performance history, best price available and customer feedback. The selected carrier then collects your purchase from your local Maplin store and delivers it straight to your home or office. On most Shutl orders you can even track your deliveries in real time on a GPS-enabled map.

Currently Shutl operates with a selected number of Maplin stores across the UK.
How much does Shutl delivery cost?back to top
The cost of a Shutl delivery varies according to the size/weight of the item(s) and the distance to the delivery address. We use your delivery postcode to calculate the distance from the Maplin store, and then calculate the size and weight of the goods in order to select the cheapest available vehicle type to generate your quote.
What happens to my reservation?back to top
You can generate a quote for delivery with no commitment to use the Shutl service. If you decide to pay for a Shutl delivery your reservation is converted into a Shutl order and will no longer be available in store for you to collect in person.
"Now!" means that we will despatch your delivery straight away. This usually means that you will receive your order within as little as 90 minutes, however sometimes this may be longer due to factors outside our control (such as traffic and carrier availability).
"When?" allows you to choose a convenient 1-hour delivery window either later today or at any point in the next two weeks. For example, at a time when you know you’ll be at home, or whilst you’re available at your desk between meetings.
Can I specify a time for my delivery to be made?back to top
Yes you can. You simply select "When?" and choose the date and the1-hour delivery window that you require.
What happens if I am not in?back to top
The flexibility of the service offered by Shutl allows you to have your purchase delivered at a time that suits you, meaning that you should be available to take receipt of the delivery. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you are not going to be available, please contact the Maplin Customer Care team as soon as possible on 0844 557 6000 (available Monday – Friday 08:30 to 20:00, Saturday 09:00 to 17:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 16:00) who will be very happy to help you. If the courier arrives at the delivery address and you are not there, Shutl will ring you to get further instructions. We can usually offer to deliver your items at another time.
In the event that we are unable to contact you or deliver your parcel: We will charge the quoted Shutl delivery cost again to return the item to the store.
Who will deliver the item to me?back to top
One of Shutl’s approved same -day carriers will deliver your goods to you. We select the carrier based upon several key criteria:
- Their ability to deliver within the agreed timescales
- The price of the quote for the delivery
- The feedback on their service left by other Shutl customers
What happens if I change my mind?back to top
Delivery:
"Now!" – unfortunately we are unable to cancel this type of service as the courier has already been despatched
"When?" - As the Shutl delivery service is very fast there is only a limited amount of time to change your mind on the delivery service. Once a Shutl delivery order is confirmed and the carrier is despatched, it is not possible to cancel the delivery. If for any reason you need to cancel a delivery, the best thing to do is contact the Maplin customer care team as soon as possible on 0844 557 6000 (available Monday – Friday 08:30 to 20:00, Saturday 09:00 to 17:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 16:00).

In the event of cancellation: We will charge the quoted Shutl delivery cost again to return the item to the store.
Can any product be sent to me via Shutl?back to top
There are some product restrictions as to what we can send via the Shutl delivery service to you; for example very large items or items that have age restrictions on them. If a product is exempt from Shutl service we will not offer the Shutl option within the Maplin checkout process online.
What if something happens to my purchase?back to top
The Shutl delivery service is covered by insurance cover so that, in the unlikely event of something happening to your purchase during delivery, a replacement delivery will be made as quickly as possible. The Maplin Terms & Conditions of sale still apply to the product(s).
Will I have to sign for the delivery?back to top
Yes, the carrier will require a signature for the delivery.
How do you know which type of vehicle to send?back to top
When you request a Shutl quote in the Maplin checkout process, Shutl select a vehicle using the dimensions and weight of the item(s) in your order. This ensures that the most efficient vehicle is always used for each delivery.
Can I track my delivery?back to top
Yes, in fact most of Shutl’s carriers even provide real-time GPS tracking. Shutl will send you a tracking link once your delivery is underway, so that you can see exactly where it is at any moment in time.
Can I use Shutl to return items?back to top
Unfortunately Shutl cannot be used to return items to Maplin. If you are unsatisfied with your purchases in any way, then you can return the items in person to any Maplin store in the UK or contact our Customer Care team directly on 0844 557 600 (available Monday – Friday 08:30 to 20:00, Saturday 09:00 to 17:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 16:00). How long is my quote valid for?back to top
The price which Shutl quotes will be valid for 15 minutes, giving you plenty of time to check out. Should you take longer than 15 minutes then we will inform you and an updated quote will be presented to you on the payment page.
