This halogen heater is a must during the winter months when the cold really sets in! The halogen heating elements provide heat almost instantly when the unit is switched on and operating costs are low at just 1200 W on full power. The safety tilt switch is a reassuring feature for those with pets or small children; if the unit is knocked over power to the heating elements is automatically cut off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this heater has a flaw in the design its safety cut out button it has been set into the heater at to high a height to let the heater work properly unless it is stood in thick pile carpet on a bare or lino floor the button that needs to be pressed for the heater to work simply does not reach the ground so no power goes through to the halgon tubes keep it pressed in with a little thought a adjustable screw setting for different floor surfaces could have been incorporated into the design as is can only be used by standing on piece of very thick carpet or by gaff taping a jar lid over the button to keep it pressed in

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bought this heater to keep me warm in my workroom and its more than capable of giving instant heat, so far have only needed to use it at 800w. Pros:- Its very lightweight and easy to move. Packs a punch with its heat levels instantly. It oscillates very quietly. Turns itself off if knocked over. Cons:- You cannot change the bulbs, but if they go ,at this price i'm not worried if it only sees me through one winter. The lead is too short, so have had to plug into an extension lead. Would not reccommend for use with animals or children around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heater good but very flimsy base which makes unit unstable on a carpet. If putting on carpet then you will need a solid plinth to sit heater on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This seemed like a great way to heat a small room without having all the heating on. The bars seem to blow quickly though so not great value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish! Build quality is awful. After using this 5 or 6 times the on/off switch broke and it could only be switched off at the mains plug. Maplin kindly replaced with a new one free of charge but now the main bulb has blown within a few weeks of using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super little heater I bought this earlier in the year before the heatwave. We needed a heater that we could use to heat either the caravan or the awning. This fits the bill perfectly and heats up these spaces very quickly. Its also very light making it extremely portable. Recommended.

are these cheap to run?

Asked by: Estelle
The cheapest to run are halogen heaters and oil-filled radiators, whilst bar fires and fan heaters are the most expensive. If you have to use an electric room heater, use it only when necessary and consider the following: Use a timer if it has one, if not, you can buy a timer switch for the plug from us. 24 Hour 7 Day Digital Mains Timer code (N21JU)
