Product overview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice small transformer - but no wiring instructions Its fine. But I wish there were wiring explanations with it - there is zilch! I understand that 240V is applied to the black wires (both are black -odd?) and the other three supply two separate 12 volt outputs (using three wires, of which two are the same colour). I'm sure people in the biz would know, but I didn't! Wiring instructions please!

Hello, So is this a centre tapped transformer that can be used to give an output of 12VAC or 24VAC? and it it is 24VAC it will povide a lesser amperage than 250mA? thanks

I have got a small bluetooth stereo unit that is designed for a boat or the like and runs on 12v DC, I want to incorporate it into a project at home and need to run it from mains 240v, would the transformer work for this or if not what would I need?

Asked by: Manny
This would be unsuitable for use in the manner you describe as it is a 240v AC input 12v AC output transformer. As much as we would love to be able to help here, as Technical Support Advisors we cannot offer design project advice or assistance. We are more than happy to locate products and support you with your purchases but we are not able to design entire circuits or projects for you. If you do have the design/circuit information detailing the value of the components needed we will be happy to locate these for you.

Suitability for mains voltage to 3x12volt halogen lights?

Asked by: jimt
The power supply has a maximum output of 250 ma ... I doubt very much that you would be able to power 3 halogen lights with such a low amperage.

Hi, Can this transformer work with small voltages? I mean a voltage that is not 230V? I want to apply it a project not the mains. The voltage produced for my project mechanism does not reach 230v. Thanks

Asked by: Colly
No, I am sorry but the item will not work for this use.

What type of transformer is this? Is it a AC -AC step up or step-down transformer? Thanks

Asked by: Colly
This will convert a 240VAC input to two 12VAC 250mA outputs. Full details can be found on the datasheet linked below; http://52.50.15.149:8072/Downloads/datasheet-9635

I would like to power a 12v 0.15A thermostat with this. Can I take domestic 240v into this to power the unit?

Asked by: eaybwg
Yes the transformer has a 240v AC input, full technical specifications for the unit as well as wiring example can be found on the datasheet we have provided for the item on the listing under the downloads tab (or see link below) https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/YN16-9635.pdf If you are in any way unsure how to correctly connect this device or it's method of operation then it would be advisable to contact a qualified electrical installer for advice.
