A 30A charge regulator is designed to control the charging process from the solar panel to the battery as well as the power drawn from the battery to feed the outputs.
All solar panels generally require a voltage regulator to ensure that the battery is not overcharged. The charge regulator is an electronic controller that switches on the connection to the batteries solar cells if the battery is empty and switches off again when the battery is fully charged.
It provides over-charging, over-discharging, short circuit, over-load and reverse polarity protection, therefore ensuring your solar system works at best capacity. This solar charge regulator uses the latest Microcomputer-chip for intelligent control and a PWM (pulse width modulation) charging circuit is used for higher efficiency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent product, works as specified to control and monitor battery voltage and current into the battery and load. Some equipment connected to the load terminals may trip the load output supply from the unit. This can be prevented by the inclusion of a longitudinal choke in series with the load connection leads. This is most easily provided by two turns of the connecting cable (or more turns, depending on cable diameter) through a ferite tube. This will supress the spike produced by the load surge.

I've installed our regulator with a 100 Watt panel on the caravan and for some months it's been really good with the battery voltage always staying above 12v. This week the regulator keeps tripping out and alarming and I have to disconnect the battery to reset it which is a real nuisance. The battery voltage was low (11.5V) and I'm fairly certain that the trips are caused when the load spikes so I'm going to fit a choke this week. In the meantime it's been a fine day and the battery voltage has recovered. No more trips....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent charge regulator! I have used several different Maplin supplied regulators. They are all good but this is the best one! I have 2 of these, each with their own 12v Battery and each with their own 150W solar panel. The batteries are connected in series (direct NOT via the regulator O/P) and I am using the Maplin 24V 800W inverter. So far so good!

Decided that 10amps was inadequate so bought this unit. Appears to be well made with 4mm connections along the bottom edge. Good heat sink on rear. The display is easy to read from a distance of Five feet sorry dont do metric working very well with my panel

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solar regulator this is a really good piece of electronics easy to setup and connect to the readout is always on you can read it from several feet away. connected 4 solar panels to it and a leisure battery to it and the battery has never gone below 12v and shuts input when it reaches 14v great price

Can the load output connection on this unit be connected to a Sargent EC465 PSU. There is a spare lead which is connected to P14 on this unit for Smart charging

i have two batteries on my boat, both 12v 110ah. my open circuit voltage is 12v. i want to connect a 100w solar panel to charge both batteries. will this controller do the job or would i need a dual controller?

This unit is designed for single battery charge only as long as the total amperage from the panel/panels you use does not exceed 30A https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/N28KR-4072.pdf If the batteries are wired in the correct format you could possibly use a single controller (as long as you don't exceed it's operational parameters) but you would need to research how to do this we cannot advise.

Charging a 12v battery on a boat. The battery is trickle charged from the outboard engine when that engine is running. I want to permanently connect a solar panel to maintain charging when the engine is not running. Is this possible?
