Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought as replacement for one several years old from another store. Much smaller power-brick than previously, about that which you might associate with a modern laptop or notebook, and has a single blue led light in a corner to indicate operation. The adaptor into which the 12v plug fits is nice and secure fit, allowing that end of the cable to hang over a surface just fine, as long as the brick itself is far enough back, which given a sufficient cable length between the two is very easily done. Could not hear any noise from the brick, unlike the persistent buzzing the old one had. First impressions based on a short period of use, so can't comment on lifespan of the product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I bought this power supply to power a cold box when not in the car. Although the cold box consumes nominally 4A, this power supply is unable to start the cold box - probably because it cannot supply the cold box's fan starting current without tripping out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It says on the box it is ideal for cool boxes and compressors but it wont power any of them! All it does is cut out come back on and cut out again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot power air compressor On the box it describes this product as being "ideal for cool boxes, compressors..." When connecting it to my tiny air compressor you get a millie-second of power before it starts cutting in and out. Returned and refunded.

Will this power a Black and Decker 12v car vacuum cleaner (model AV1260-H1) rated at 12 watts (air power)?

Asked by: JohnL
NO. Despite Russell's reply, the transformer will not power my B&D vacuum cleaner (AV1260-H1 rated at 12 watts). Maplin staff VERY helpful, checking transformer and trying replacement but no go. B&D rating may be misleading. Money refunded immediately so regrets but no pain.
