• 15 super bright white LEDs provide strong light (9,000 mcd)

• 0.6W crystalline solar panel collects sunlight to charge the unit even on cloudy days
• The PIR motion sensor switches light on when movement is detected within its range
• PIR sensor has a detection range of two to 6½ metres
• Light stays on for 25 seconds once activated
• Includes 3 x AAA 750mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries (encased together)

This portable solar light is an easy way to provide light inside small buildings where there is no access to mains electricity. It is ideal for use in sheds, garages, stables or summer houses as well as for camping and other outdoor activities. The solar panel charges the three internal AAA rechargeable batteries, located in the light unit, during the day ready for operation at dusk. The PIR automatically turns the light on when movement is detected and the light stays on for 25 seconds once movement has been detected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not fully weather proof I was suprised to find that the instructions say to bring inside in extreme weather ie heavy rain, heavy snow or below -6 C. Returning it as no use at all during an average british winter which is when you need them in the evenings.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very poor weather protection...after 6 months in a relatively sheltered area it unit failed, as an engineer i wanted to check before returning to store, found main pcb and batterys corrorded badly. i was discused with this an bined it not worth returning for another one go the same way :-(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install. Bright light from the LEDS. DC connector to light not waterproof protected (could do with a rubber boot cover), so you have to be careful where you install it. On time not adjustable (about 20 seconds), PIR sensitivity good range but not adjustable. No instructions how to test this in daylight but you need to cover the white sensor with your hand while switching on to get the lamp on. Only 4 stars 'cos of the poor connector waterproofing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is providing sufficient light in a dark passage by the house. Senses movement quite well. Much simpler to fit than a mains version. Has survived the recent wind and rain.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plastic clip on the light unit which secures it to the mounting bracket is very thin and snapped off when I installed it. The light stays on for a very short time which cannot be adjusted so you have to keep waving at it. Light is OK for small shed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very nice solar light. ideal for the shed and a great help finding the lock at night.
Date published: 2011-12-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from sensor activation is most useful but 25 second is a short time. adjustment would be helpful
Date published: 2013-10-16
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bright lights that seems to charge up even on a cloudy day. The lights only stay on for 25 seconds when activated as stated in the description. What would have made this product even better would be if this time was adjustable.

What size drill bit for the wall plugs? It would be useful if this was on the side of the plugs - or in the manual.

Can I buy extension leads for this?

On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.

I purchased 2 evo 15 pir lights and took them out to Spain where I fitted them. After fitting them I stupidly threw the instructions away. I cannot get either of them to work so is there any special way of turning them on.

Asked by: Aubrey
they are both in pitch black at night. after playing around with the on off button they light up & when they do they turn off after 5 mins but still dont work at night. do you have the instructios. ?  Do you have to arm them by pressing the button a few times. ?

can light be turned on all the time not just on sensor

Asked by: pawsamoment
There is an on/off switch, however, when the switch is on, the light will only come on when it's dark and the PIR sensor detects movement. When the switch is in the off position, the light won't come on at all, even if it's dark and movement is detected. I'd imagine that if there were an option for the light to stay on permanently (without movement detection) then the battery probably wouldn't last too long (unless you're lucky enough to live in a sunny country).

please confirm when I replace the 3 batteries how do I put them in. ie positive down then positive up and then positive down or in an other sequence?

Asked by: Grumpy
Put the new batteries in the same way the old batteries came out. If the old batteries are already out and you can't remember which way they came out, just try both ways until you get light (best to use some batteries that are already charged/have some power left).
