Looking to run a PS4 onto 2 HDTV in different rooms but the PS4's connection is notoriously poor for powering a splitter withour a DC power supply connected. Can you confirm if this product will work with the PS4 being the sole input power source?
This device should come with a power supply and is intended to be powered during use, so we could not guarantee operation without this supply.

would this cable work for connecting two monitors to one laptop, as I have only one HDMI port on it
The "splitter" takes a single HDMI output and makes 2 identical copies of that signal. SKY box , DVD, Blueray player or Computer ... it doesn't matter you will have 2 EXACT copies of the output. If however you want the monitors you connect to have independent outputs then this device is not suitable.

Is it active active splitter? i want the same signal to split into two, one going to my tv and another to projector from my sky box. Both device should be receiving the same signal at the same time. Also, i assume it supports 4k and no signal loss
This will support 4k but is not active. The one in the link below has 4k support and is active http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/4-way-hdmi-splitter-n66ny

does this splitter allow you to connect sky and chrome cast and be able to flick from one to the other
No, this would display the same image twice. If you are wanting to go from one device to the other, you would need a HDMI switch.
