Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks like a solid replacement but didn't last Looks and feels solid and for the price I'd have expected it it to last. Just under a year after purchase it had no output. Tested on a few sockets. Nothing metered on the low voltage side. The last time I removed it from the mains the light suddenly came on and it discharged whatever was left through my hand. I tend to get upset after a shock hence the 1 star review.

This is a DC power supply so would not work for your use.

What is a switched mode power supply as opposed to a standard power supply. It looks much the same and appears to do the same thing but possibly a bit more expensive.

Asked by: Ted Yorkshire
I would recommend you read the article below if you wish to learn the difference. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switched-mode_power_supply

Although the overview states "Stabilising output, low ripple and low interference" is this regulated?

Asked by: Aidy
As it is not specified as regulated then I would have to say no but our order code N62JN is regulated.

How do ensure that centre pole is positive as the power tip can go in either way into the plug (not the computer end).

Asked by: Pete
There is a marker on the socket and plug. The market on the socket shows the positive side. The marker on the tip shows the centre pin. Line these together to make a centre positive adaptor, or reverse the polarity for centre negative.

I have a Halfords Portable Powerpack 100 tyre inflator and battery booster(to fire up a dead car battery) for quite some years. I need a new electric DC to AC electric plug for 12V 20ah to charge up this unit, after use. Please help. Thanks.    Sonny.

On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.
