Rated 5 out of 5 by from This may sound foolish, but I started with one, then got another, and now have five! I like the quality of the light that goes onto what I am working on - it s a very white light, which what I need. As many of you will know, having a point source can meaning always getting in your own shadw, and they don't tend to do that. And perhaps most of all, the lights are not hot to touch. I have many times before, while concentrating on a job, reached up to adjust an incandescent or a halogen and gone "Ow!" when touched

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect tool for fine work, and in my case fly tying. Very nicely made, with good quality materials. Repositioning of the lens is no problem and it holds its allocated position with no issues. The clamp jaws will accommodate a desk edge of up to 60mm thickness, and as I have old office desk with deep metal edging this is a big bonus. The light is bright, cool, and well distributed over the subject area, also liked the lens guard which should help to keep it dust free when not in use. Thoroughly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I thought this would be a 'stop gap' solution for me until I could afford better, however I'm really impressed with the build quality and functionality of this lamp. The optics are very good - ideal for inspecting solder joints and finding the elusive characters on small components. The 22W daylight lamp is as advertised. Also, as a bonus, it doesn't get hot at all, even after extended use. Excellent purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job, but... I've had one of these for a couple of years now and it does what it's designed for - just. Good points: Good even illumination. Good quality magnifier. Bad points: Too much free slack in the bottom mounting pivot makes it difficult to get the "business end" into the correct position. The springs and cantilevers don't hold it in position very firmly. The focal point is too close to the work making it difficult to get tools, such as a soldering iron, into position without constantly hitting the magnifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought two of these magnifier lamps , one for the mother-in-law for her embroidery & cross/stitch, and the other for me for electronic/mechanical repair diy and reading . The lamp is perfect for both , giving unlimited flexibility and a brilliant white light , without getting hot at all . The magnifier itself is exceptionally clear , giving a large and undistorted view of your work area . Excellent value for money for a wide range of hobbies .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have used this everyday for the last 3 years and has always been brill, However over the last few weeks till today there was a large heat generating from the lamp causing the lens to burn and bubble (melted plastic) but now it started to flicker and now just died on me. So that's 3 years of everyday use. would love to give 5 stars, However due to the heat and bubble, I needs a new lens but these are not replaceable, So i am going to give this a 4 star (wanted 4 1/2 stars but site wont allow half's), Will buy a replacement bulb tomorrow and enjoy another 3 years. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pros- Very happy with it. Arm extends how I want it to, has cover on top of light to stop dust getting onto the magnifier and you can use it just as a lamp too, very bright but does not hurt the eyes. Does not burn you to touch. Power cable good enough length. The mount is strong and works well, as long as you have an edge to mount it too. Cons- Had trouble mounting due to not having a ledge. Wish it had another type of stand mount. (Does state in description about mount though). Also the magnifier could be slightly stronger so you didn't have to hold the magnifier so close. Even better would be to have a second smaller magnifier installed into the larger magnifier. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Would recommend. 4/5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've had one of these for a few years now and cannot do without it for most tasks at my bench. I bought this one for a friend after he used and hugely admired my one. I will probably buy myself another one (or two!) and dot them around my workshop. Bright, even light, and a good magnifier - highly recomended.

What magnification is it? The Scientific conversion: magnification reference (comparative) distance is 25cm (10 inches). 4D = 1X magnification. If this is correct it hardly magnifies at all ?
