Rated 4 out of 5 by from Have just purchased this product and although its general appearance is pleasing it technically has a drawback. When I tried to dock a Maxtor IDE drive the interconnection between the IDE adaptor and SATA base were clumsy to say the least. It took several attempts to get the drive to locate correctly. However, once I had succeeded with this everything was fine! I had less trouble with a Seagate IDE drive but even this was not straightforward. It is much easier to dock a SATA drive so in respect the product is ideal. I also like the peripheral USB and card reader extensions. Were it not for the clumsy connection between the base and IDE adaptor I would have given it 5 stars!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use straight out of the box. Ideal for reading both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives, but for installing the adaptor for 3.5" PATA drives is just a little bit fiddly, which does not help as the 2 fixing screws supplied were the wrong type for 3.5" HDD, they should have been course threaded screws and not fine threaded screws, but it is still possible to get countersunk course threaded screws which are then the correct type, otherwise the size of the screw head catches the inside of the docking station making it a extremely tight fit or not allowing it to go into the slot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At last a complete all rounder. I have had a Sata docking Staion for a while now but it was still a chore fixing up an IDE Drive to retrieve data. This bit of kit is now centre stage in the Workshop. Can recommend this fully. A good buy. Many thanks Maplins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SATA connection works well. IDE connection a bit fiddly and slow, but a good way to use old disks for storage. Useful USB hub and card reader.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This gadget is one of the best I have ever bought, instead of taking the PC to bits, I just fit the adapter to an IDE drive and slip it in the holder, bingo, the contents of the drive there in front of you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product, worked straight away with a SATA disc from an iMac that had died some time ago, the ability to read a range of other memory cards is usefull, also the fact that it acts as a USB hub. Unit is quite smart and looks OK on the top of my desk.

This doesn't work on my xp laptop. Sata drives power up but are not recognised in my computer. Ide drives do not power up or show in my computer. They do appear in disk management. Is it faulty, or do the disks have to be in specific format?

Asked by: Ginna
