Hard wearing push to make SPDT switch with strong metal shaft & knob suitable for use as a foot operated switch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very neat switch - but not very robust I've used these switches on a hand controller that controls a piece of garage equipment. They been in place for a year and used daily. They are actuated by hand - not foot pressure - but two of them have failed in that time. The locking mechanisms fail. A pity really as they initially appear quite good.

On this 'photo' off the switch I can only see two terminals showing. however the switch I purchased was SIX terminals. can you explain how this should be wired or is there a special 'plug that should be used with this switch Regards Norm '

Maplin have provided a datasheet for the item https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/N85AR-spec-7527.pdf the full electrical characteristics for the switch can be found on page 2 as well as an explanation of the pinout for the switch. However we are unable to help you with enquiries as to how to implement the switch in your own circuits or designs. If you are in anyway unsure about the electrical characteristics of the device or how to correctly utilise the device in a circuit or project then we would recommend you contract the services of a qualified electrician to assist you with this.

Second request.... How do I power this 'switch' Norman

Asked by: inkpen123
Typically you do not "power" a switch, a switch can be used to turn on or off the power to a circuit, this particular switch is rated as suitable for up to 250 Vac at a maximum current of 3 amps. how does this switch work, by pressing is the power cut and restored when the pressure is released. I hope this ? makes sense if not can you explain. Inkpen123

Asked by: inkpen123
This is a Push-To-Make switch so the circuit will be made when you press the switch and broken when you release the switch.
