Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid if you want wasted journeys I bought one to charge a 6 v and a 12 v child's toy car battery and it didnt work. Took it back and got an exchange. This did not work either. I used a multimeter to test it and no current running through. Changed the fuse and tested fuse and still no joy. Will be taking back for a full refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work. Bought this to charge the battery for or intruder alarm. Battery on charge for almost a whole week. Still not charged. Light to show charging spotted working after about3 days - battery still dead. Buying a new battery instead tomorrow which is only a little more expensive than this pointless charger. Returning this straight away. A complete waste of £30, the electricity used and a week of my house being vulnerable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Went beyond the call of duty I bought this in an emergency as a cheap way to put a small amount of charge into my electric car's 12V 75Ah auxiliary battery so that I could turn the key the following day and have the car ready itself and charge the remainder. Despite only being rated for charging batteries up to 9Ah (something I missed on the packaging but it is there) and despite my battery being a flooded (not sealed) lead acid unit, this little charger brought the battery from an empty 9.5V up to 13V in about 6 hours, which was just enough juice to get me out of trouble. The unit did get warm whilst charging at the maximum 0.6A but I kept it near the window with a cool breeze blowing, monitoring it to ensure it didn't overheat. I don't recommend this method but I was impressed how it coped with a task that was clearly far beyond what it was designed to do. I ensured there was sufficient ventilation near the ceiling to avoid hydrogen gas buildup whilst charging.

Can this charge my 12v 3.2ah yucel lead acid battery

Asked by: Tony
Yes - As long as the battery is healthy. We see many reviews where customers say "bought this to charge my battery ... didn't work" ... Typically this is because the battery has not been properly maintained, Sealed Lead Acid batteries have to be charged on a regular cycle, if you let one go flat and leave it for too long it will never charge properly again ...

I have one of these chargers and though it was set to charge to 6v for a 6v battery it infact over charged it to 14 volts.  Can I have a copy of the instruction book to check what went wrong?

Asked by: Cadetchris
This seems like it would be a faulty item, I would suggest you stop using the item immediately and bring it back to one of our stores or contact our customer service team on 0333 400 9500

Does this charger plug straight into the mains socket or does it have a mains lead with a plug on the end?

Asked by: Peter352
Their is a mains lead attached to the transformer, so the bulk of the transformer can be placed on a stable surface.

does this charger have a polarity indicator? if so what does it mean when this light is on constantly?

Asked by: leigh321
If the red polarity light is on this is showing the is connected in the incorrect way - the green light should be on and solid or flashing when nearly full.
