I have a 30 Watt  12 volt panel  and need to run cable from the panel to the battery  which is 7 mtr away' what size cable do I need?

Asked by: Peter
12 volts 30 Watts is 2.5 Amps ... so you need to select cable that can safely carry 2.5 amps at 12 volts. If you are making your own cable and ends then you would need to select the cable from our range we cannot advise on what cables /components to use for project design. or you could buy pre-made solar extension cables such as and link then to get the desired length you require.

I can't seem to find if this is a poly or mono cristaline panel. I have it here and it is different from the picture

Asked by: mettje
The picture shows a monocrystalline panel. Notice the corners cut at an angle. These are the most efficient type. However, my father in law bought one of these and received a polycrystalline panel instead. This is inferior to the polycrystalline panel. Will be taking it back as the picture is misleading.

I'm new to all this, but what I'm looking for is a solar power that will charge mobile, laptop and a small light for camping. Is everything in this pack all I will need? Let it catch the sun all day then plug in laptop etc and how many plugs can I use?

Asked by: Satchel
This would generate power, however you would also need a battery to store the power and a pure sinewave inverter to provide the mains level power for your devices. Which of these you need would depend on the maximum power draw you will need at any given time (usually measured in Watts), amount of time you think you will be using the devices each day and the length of time you will be camping, to ensure the battery has enough power to account for cloudy or dull days where the panel is not operating at peak efficiency.

Hi. I want to run a 12v motor from a 12v sealed lead acid battery. I also want to connect this solar panel to the battery keeping the battery topped up. If the battery is connected to solar panel, how do you connect to motor without connecting to solar?
