Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good box, well made, excellent finish. Fitted a 1Tb HDD and accessed the files within minutes. Windows quickly loaded the USB driver without any problems. Can be slightly noisy if placed directly on a large desk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought today for extra storage, these IDE cases are getting harder to find, so far A OK. used a larger 12 v regulated psu the supplied one is probably ok i just needed a normal plug, adapters are bulky. All said yes a good product, well made.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A further update Sorry I can't just condense everything into one review, and maybe I should wait a little while longer, in future, before posting one but on further analysis although this did work for the purpose I wanted, with the Wii U, it didn't work as perfectly as I expected. So if you want to use this with your PC I can heartily recommend it as that's what I am now doing, however - at least for me - it was too unpredictable when it came to my Wii U, so maybe a proper external drive is needed if that's what you want to use it for. The choice is yours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Third Time Lucky I apologise if this is the third review you have seen by me, if it's only the second then let me just say despite my initial reservations about this product, that the one I was sold, and the one I exchanged it for, seemed like a used product and I wasn't offered a suitable discount. Well, it works. I got it to work with my Wii U, and the vibrations have dropped quite considerably. If you are in the same boat as me, just turn the Wii U on, then the hard drive, the Wii U will complain and restart itself and then things should be back to normal. It's taken me 2 weeks to work that out, and I think the first hard drive I tried with it had a faulty jumper but I haven't tested that theory yet. What I can say is it works perfectly with the PC and with the Wii U now, I just have to be careful to "Deactivate Downloads" if I want to move or copy files from it, or onto it. The annoying thing is if the Wii U restarts itself, like coming out of System Settings, it resets the activation of downloads, and they keep downloading. As long as you remember this it's a okay, but you probably won't be trying to download every demo at the same time, like me, so. Then again, you might not even own a Wii U. Let's cover some things I didn't say before. Well it gets warm, but not really hot, so I don't think it's going to burst into flames. It was a little tricky putting it all together, but I've heard that even if it comes with a user manual it doesn't say how to set the jumper. Here the reply is to set it as a Master. Elsewhere I've read that you need to set it as a Slave. I am happier than I was, not that I've had to post 3 reviews here instead of being able to delete my other two. Nor that I've had to lie about my e-mail address in order to place this review, and the last one, which could be a reason that neither will see the light of day. The product doesn't look like what I was expecting. I see now it does tell you that image may vary but it's not very helpful when you're sitting at home trying to decide. It is more expensive than a IDE to SATA Adapter but it gives you the flexibility to move it around your different home computers, a bit like a heavy usb flash drive but harder to damage...well unless you drop it. I am not completely sold on the power supply, I prefer the traditional kind and the USB cable is a little short but I tried using a longer one and it did slow down the transfer rate. So it's great, just a shame it was a 'used' product and on this website they knock 25% off if it's used, is it different in stores? But it's a hassle to take it back and explain, especially as I thought the power supply might have been defective and it wasn't. So if you're in the market for one, and you don't mind the novel power supply connector, buy one, it works. (finally)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as expected I bought this yesterday but when I got home and took it out the box, although it looked good, it didn't match any of the pictures on the website. I have since noticed that the four they have are for all different hard drive enclosures. Previously I had noticed this when ordering some coax cables from them, in the past, I just find it confusing to work out if I have the right product. One thing that did surprise me was that there were no instructions on how to fit a drive. Okay, it was pretty intuitive but I didn't even know whether I should set the drive as master, slave or cable select. I have since seen the question and answer to set the drive to master or cable select, but mine was set to slave (an IBM drive) and it worked. Also there was no driver cd, since it mentioned Windows 98 I might have thought there would been. But the box was damaged, which was good as I got money off, but the sticker on the back stated 'shop soiled' and not 'incomplete' - could this have been a user return and they forgot to put the instructions back? My hard drive enclosure ended up being a Dynamode USB-HD3.5-BN. I went to the website and did find a page on it, but not on it's support site. Then I found about a product recall on a similar drive the USB-HD3.5SI-BN (the SATA/IDE version of this drive - mine just has an IDE interface) So I then remembered that it had got really warm, and how the power supply was hard to put in the socket, being a DIN plug and not the usual type I would have expected. I have e-mailed Dynamode and await a reply, and will remove or amend this review if necessary but we shall see. So I, myself, don't have any issues, I worked out how to fit the drive, it even came with a small screwdriver which was a nice addition. I've never used a similar product before so I suppose the lack of a fan did worry me a little, but as I don't intend to power this drive when I am not at home I don't feel the need to worry too much, and the other hard drive I intend to use it with is newer, so might run cooler. So, besides what I read about the product recall of a similar product, I am happy with my purchase. I was in a bit of a hurry so I wasn't going to ask why the item didn't match the pictures on the site, but as long as you know a bit about p.c. assembly then you shouldn't have any problem with this. Then again, it seems to be discontinued so you might not be able to get this for much longer.
