Hi, does 'OPEN' mean that this 3.5mn chassis socket is unsuitable for diverting the sound from an internal speaker to an external one when a jack is inserted, and if so, where can I fine one on your site which will perform this task ? Ta.

Asked by: Smike
When you push a 3.5 mm mono plug into this socket the ground and signal connectors of that plug will mate with the respective ground and signal pins of the socket. The physical presence of the plug in the socket will force the 3rd leg to go from closed to open circuit. How you utilise and wire this into a circuit would be your own choice entirely, unfortunately Maplin are unable to offer advice on any form of circuit or project design.
