This 5 litre digital humidifier uses an ultrasonic high-frequency oscillator to turn water from the tank into tiny particles. By doing this, it restores the relative humidity levels, particularly in rooms where air conditioning or central heating has made the air overly dry. The benefits of correct air humidity are wide ranging and can alleviate a number of health problems including dry eyes, sinus problems, sore throats and dry mouth.

The digital display offers a variety of humidifying functions and the in-built timer and preset capability ensure that your home is always set to your preferred level of humidity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greathe humidifier We've had this humidifier at least a year and a half, maybe even 2 years. We originally bought it for our asthmatic sons room, his coughing when he has a wheeze can be really bad at night but the humidifier helps. Then we had our second son who has had a fair few bouts of bronchitis, works brilliantly helping his cough, I'd say it helps him more than our older son. I had tried a couple of different humidifiers and all they achieved was a soaking wet floor. This one doesn't make the floor wet at all and when I have it switched up mists the room up nicely. Still works perfectly after all this time. Definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what is required. Brilliant this machine is fantastic my 3 year old suffered from croup that is drying of the throat which makes him cough terribly. What sets this apart from the other machines available is the control. Many other machines on the market have a dial, plus and minus not accurate when it comes to something so precious as a child. After loads of reaserch I found I needed 50 to 55% RH to help his condition. I filled it up with water and plugged it in, it immediately told me the room was 25%. I set the machine to 55% it started working until the 55% was achieved then it cut off. My little boy has slept so well since buying this helped his health and no coughing. this machine is a little bit more than the other ones with a dial but the digital control in worth every penny. Iv never written a review before but for any parents in same position as me it's worth every penny and more. From waking up coughing fits every few hours, he sleeps 12 hours straight through. Best thing Iv bought in years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great unit Does the job well _ I was going to buy a humidity gauge so that I could assess the dry air situation in my home. ( I tend to have sinus problems made worse by the central heating ). For a bit more money I got this fantastic bit of kit that does it all !! Very quiet and huge tank .. I could go on and on but for the money you can't go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I bought this unit to increase humidity in one of my rooms. It has numerous features and works very well and is pretty much silent in operation. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price I have tried various humidifiers, including one that cost 10 x as much as this. I recently paid Ј100 for an evaporative one that claimed to have an output of 350g an hour. In reality it is putting out more like 125g, which isn't enough to humidify the air in our living room, which has a wood burner. I bought the Maplin one today, despite theinfo saying it puts out 350g an hour, I have had it on high and the output has been closer to double that. The room is more comfortable already (the main reason I bought it is for one of my elderly cats who has eye problems) Cheap ultrasonic units are not without their own problems, such as pumping out 'chalk' into the air, although too early for me to tell hoe much of a problem this will be. Another very surprsing thing is the fact that it has a humidistat, normally only found on much more expensive humidifiers. This means you can set it at the desired humidity (I set mine at 50%) at it will switch off when the humidity reaches that point - and obviously switch back on again when the humidity drops. The bottom line - for the price, it can't be faulted (assuming it keeps working for at least one winter)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to operate, good features, good price Bought for my baby sons room to help his chest and eczema. Didn't want a vapour one and finding something I could buy locally was a challenge! Thank you maplins for having this in stock and being helpful this morning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cracking little unit Nice little unit for the price and size of the unit does a good job, quiet while running.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap and cheerful Great price for a basic unit. Seems to work fine. Downsides :easy to spill water once it's full, and instruction manual is impenetrable bad Chinese translation: it doesn't actually tell you what the Mist, humidistat and anion settings do.

Hi  I lifted the tank of the humidifier today and noticed the base was full of water where the tank slots onto! Is this normal?

Asked by: Sammm
There should only be water inside the tank.

It is generally quiet when running, but giurgles quite loudly fairly frequently, presumably replacing water that has been consumed. It is enough to disturb a light sleeper, is this normal ?

Asked by: john
If it is running out of the water then this would be normal but if it has plenty left then this does sound like a potential fault, and as such, I would suggest contacting our Customer Service Team who can advise on the options available to you if the item remains within our standard 12 month warranty period. If your item is now outside the warranty period please do still contact the Customer Service Team as they may have alternative options available to you. Please contact customer care by telephone on 0333 400 9500 – Option 2, or email customer.service@maplin.co.uk It will help to speed up the returns process if you have your receipt details/proof of purchase and postal address available at the time of contact.
