Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant aquarium light I bought this to replace the 'lifetime' LED in a Biorb fish tank that died. Paired with a 470 ohm resistor to step down the 12V power supply. Not as bright as the original, but nice cool white light that can be left on 24/7. The Biorb power supply produces 12V AC, so this LED produces a 50Hz strobe effect, which makes the bubbles in the tank look really cool - and I'm informed by my vet daughter that the fish are not sensitive to strobe lighting at this frequency. Certainly, I can't see any flicker at all, and the fish seem happy. All-in-all, it cost me £1.29 to repair the tank and it's better than new!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cheap white led had a ROLSON headtorch needing a replacement LED so I fitted the cheap Maplins N72KG as its better than original I can only wonder what the super brightness of the "N28FN" high intensity would be

What does "Flashing - No" actually mean? Obviously they switch "ON" and "OFF" so clearly they can flash. Does switching on and off reduce LED life to a fixed number of energisations - if so how many? Or is it that they have a limited strobe frequency?

Asked by: Peter
The term "Flashing :No" in the specifications means This is not a flashing LED If you wish to make it flash it would need to be connected to circuit that gives that functionality.

Trying to repair an old (1950's) family scratch built truck with sub miniature bulbs. The power is 4.5V (via 3 x D batts). Can I use one on these LED's instead? Can I just connect it up or do I need an in line resistor? If what power. Thanks in advance.

As much as we would love to be able to help here, we cannot offer design project advice or assistance, we are more than happy to locate products and support you with your purchases but we are not able to design entire circuits or projects for you. If you do have the design/circuit information detailing the value of the components needed we will be happy to locate these for you.
