Product overview

• IEC-320 C14: a mains power line plug for use with IEC-320 C13 connectorsPlug has shielded pins to prevent accidental touching whilst inserting or removing the plug• Wires are terminated to the connectors using screw terminals• Includes cable clamp and strain relief sleeve• Rated at 6A at AC 250 V

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to wire up because screws have no washers. As terminal screw is tightened wire is grabbed and pulled. Cable grip will not grip oval two-core flexible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made, but needs care wiring This did what I wanted, enabling me to extend the power lead of a TV by enabliing it to connect to a standard computer power supply lead I already had. Another reviewer has criticised the screw terminals, but for this type of connector the flex conductors should preferably have ring type crimped terminals, attached to them first (they could even be soldered on). I also put spring washers under the screw heads - it certainly wouldn't go amiss if these were provided. Also with regard to the cable clamp, a fairly long strain relief sleeve is provided which can be positioned with its inner end under the cable clamp before tightening, to take up any slack caused by the use of relatively thin flex. The overall result is a pretty solid connection

Difficult to tell from the photo: are the pins flat or round ? If not round, are you likely to have any of this type in stock in future ?
Asked by: alan l
The whole point of these connectors is that they are made to a standard IEC specification which applies for example to desktop computers. These commonly have chassis sockets corresponding to this in-line connector, so the use of this connector allows you to use a standard computer lead as an extension.

Will this be ok to wire up to a 13amp plug

As Technical Support Advisors we cannot offer full advice on mains electrical installations, this job would be best left down to the professionals, if you are at all unsure we would strongly recommend consulting a qualified electrician for help and support or to complete the job for you.
