Product overview

• Great for parties!
• Rated at 75W

A standard size light bulb with a special coating that produces a deep purple light and large amounts of Ultra Violet light. This invisible light is reflected back in the visible spectrum by fluorescent materials and dyes. White clothes glow brightly in the dark, fluorescent paints light up brilliantly! Rated at 75W, 240V.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont waste your money! I bought this bulb to use for a party as was lead to believe from the website that this bulb would be brilliant for a party and make things glow under UV light. Even in complete darkness this bulb does not work! We had white clothes, UV nail polish and face paints and not even a glimmer of UV lighting. This bulb only produces a dark purple light so don't be fooled by false advertising, I would love to be able to send this back and get money back but its probably not worth the hassle!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hopeless product, not as described I bought 3 of these and now feel like a mug as I did not read reviews before ordering, but relied on the Maplins name - no UV effect discernible with all 3 on together, even in total darkness. These were needed urgently for a party so I paid an exorbitant GBP10 for 2-day delivery which I am now told is not refundable. All-in-all. I am very dissatisfied and will think twice before buying from Maplins again. would give this a zero star rating if that were possible

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not true UV This isn't a true UV bulb and gives of little to no actual Ultraviolet light!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Product Fitted bulb into a standard light socket and switched on. It briefly glowed light purple, some smoke appeared within the bulb, then it went out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does Not Work! I bought this bulb yesterday from the Pilgrim Street branch in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and I am taking it back to day. Quite simply, it does not do what it says on the tin. I wish I'd read these other reviews first. I can confirm that it does not work - with white shirts, with UV reactive paint, with false teeth, with quinine in tonic water...with nothing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fake Just a painted bulb. Doesn't even work close up to anything white or UV paint.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from misleading This lamp is not as described on the web site, it does not produce the uv effect that is stated. Do not waste yours time with this pointless product.

The pictures show two bulbs: one with a bayonet fitting and the other a screw-in; which can we expect if we place an order?

Asked by: Nellinho
The BC in the items name stands for bayonet connection.

There bulbs do not do anything that is stated on your website, especially make anything glow at any distance from the lamp. So what is the actually purpose of these lamps?

Asked by: Scotty
This is a UV bulb, it makes white clothes glow in the dark and fluorescent paints 'light up'. Its primary use would be for party's and to re live the 90's.

Are these bulbs available in size E14

Asked by: Chloe8888
On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative

If placed in the light fitting of a medium sized room for a party is this bulb actually able to illuminate white clothing and soda(tonic) water or is it too weak for this purpose? If not, can you recommend a bulb capable of this?
Asked by: Lyndsey
Not really designed for this, for parties where you are using UV reactive equipment I would reccomned L28BB.
