A 230Vac mains axial fan for cooling, extraction, intake, ventilation, etc. The fan features an impedance protected shaded-pole motor with a sintered iron sleeve bearing. The frame is diecast aluminium with a steel impeller, finished in black epoxy paint. The fan has a hole in the chassis (for self-tapper M4) for earth connection.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Far noisier than expected. Bearings seem sloppy and so it produces a rattling sound. I wanted to ventilate a cupboard containing a refrigerator which was overheating but this is just way too loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really well built product, the lack of any connector was moderately frustrating but the design of the fan is good quality. Not quite sure what Matthew is going on about 'Noisy' when we plugged the fan in, we could barely hear it, our Desk fans were far louder, this fan was whisper quiet.

Simple question can I stick a plug on this and plus in into the mains hence 240v

Asked by: Dom1986
No, doing so would overload the fan with the current contained in the UK mains supply.

What size fan covers would you recommend for this

Asked by: Dom1986
As they are 80mm fans I would suggest 80mm fan guards http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/80mm-steel-pc-fan-guard-fs19v or 80mm plastic fan guards http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/80mm-plastic-pc-fan-guard-ju26d 80mm filter http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/akasa-80mm-aluminium-fan-filter-a01nn

If I wanted to wire this to a mains plug what amp should I use 1amp or 3amp? also can I run two off one plug?

Asked by: KeizerSoyze
Sorry but we are unable to offer wiring advice. The fan would normally be incorporated into a project design or circuit, and not wired directly to a 3 pin plug. I would advise that if you are in any way unsure about how to connect this device you should seek the advice of a qualified electrical installer

Can the fan be mounted horizontally ( in the top of a cabinet instead of the normal position in the rear or side face ) without causing premature bearing failure?

Asked by: royr
I am sorry but the item in question does not support use in your intended application.
