Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this speaker from a maplin store a month back and have since made it an enclosure. I am using this speaker as a subwoofer, with a cutoff at 100Hz. It is sitting in a 0.9 cubic ft, sealed enclosure and it sounds absolutely beautiful. At a fairly low power (2W) I can fill a room with an admirably deep bass. In the enclosure I have built this speaker works wonders, I have tried other 8 inch bass/mid drivers of similar spec to this one, but they didn't perform as well as this by a long shot. The speaker itself is pleasing to the eye and has a very high quality feel to it, from the rubber surround, to the finish on the cone, the cone itself has a very nice, long but clean excursion. As mentioned in another review, this speaker can easily handle more than 45 watts, though you may want to cut frequencies below ~25Hz as driving this speaker past 45 watts on frequencies could wreck it completely. I really recommend this speaker for any hi-fi replacement or project you may work on, because it's very good value for money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Ive used this driver to replace a worn out 60w rms eltax 8" subwoofer and its doing fine, giving a nice tight bass response and plenty of volume. However I'm a bit disappointed as the driver I received isn't as is specified above, a bonus is it being 90w as opposed to 80w as stated, sadly it doesn't match the sizes specified as this speakers diameter is about 10mm larger, a shame as the specified dimensions would have been a direct replacement for the eltax sub and wouldn't have required me to modify my enclosures baffle cutout to mount it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought these for my system in my bedroom, I have ALOT of speakers and subwoofers, this one is brilliant compared to my other drivers. It was quite cheap so I thought I would give it a go! It handles about 70Wrms it is only rated 45Wrms! I had it running for about an hour with no probles and it wasn't even warm! Great speaker/woofer worth a try!

Yes this should be fine as a replacement for your old hifi system. however due to the age we cannot guarantee full compatibility.
