How can the Pi TFT enhance my Raspberry Pi?
The Pi TFT breakout board is easily one of the most popular and most impressive additions you can add to the Raspberry Pi. It is a 2.8 inch display which attaches on top of your Raspberry Pi, giving you all of the functionality you would get from plugging into a monitor or TV screen. The Pi TFT comes fully assembled so you can simply snap it onto your Raspberry Pi without the need for soldering.

You will need to download some software initially to allow the Pi TFT to communicate with your board, after which it can be your primary and only screen for your Raspberry Pi.

What can I use the Pi TFT for?
On the 320 x 240 resolution, 16-bit colour screen you can watch videos, browse the web and navigate through your Raspberry Pi just as you would on a TV screen or monitor.

The Pi TFT is ideal for use in projects because its 2.8 inch display gives you a way to directly instruct and instantly see feedback from the Raspberry Pi whether outside, or simply located away from a large screen. You could use yours to build your own personal projects like the DIY Raspberry Pi Gameboy here.

With the Pi TFT, simply use your finger or a stylus the touch screen to navigate around and open programs and videos.

What is compatible with the Pi TFT board?
The Pi TFT board is compatible with any Raspberry Pi models that have 26 pins or greater.
You will also notice a number of GPIO connections on the Pi TFT board itself, which you can use to connect to tactile buttons or wire up to other electronic devices. With the Pi TFT, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

To get set up and running using this with your Raspberry Pi, you can download through this link.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy if you have a raspberry pi model 3 unless you have a bespoke case I bought this on Wednesday together with the PiBow piTFT case (, they arrived on Saturday. The case seems to fit the raspberry pi model 3 really well and is a sort of multi layer sandwich you put together, but you have to have a screen as there is no top plate. On trying to fit the TFT screen, it is offset a bit which means it pokes out between the sandwich and in addition, the faceplate doesnt fit even if you cut the end off one of the layers. You can not use this 2.8" TFT Raspberry screen with the PiTFT case sold by Maplin and the Raspberry Pi Model 3. There is a second faceplate which i guess is for the 3.5" screen, you can use that but it leaves massive gaps in the top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little screen I bought this a while back. Took some coding to get working out of box but followed a guide online really easily. Used in a retropie build and was really happy with the outcome. Just like the other review, it sits offset a little. I managed to fix this by using the pi ribbon cable and mounted off the board.

Can it be used with pi zero ?

Asked by: Dolly
It would require a lot of modification to wire this to the Pi Zero as it would not be able to mount in the normal way, so although possible, we would say it is not designed for this purpose.

I know that the latest Raspberry Pi supports Windows 10 IoT, but does it support this screen?

Asked by: Win10
The newest Rpi (V2) does support this screen, but IoT would not.

Is soldering required? I have no TV or display to use with my raspberry pi 2, and intend to use this from the outset, is that feasible?

Asked by: 45mick33
I am pleased to advise the product you mentioned will do exactly what you require.

Is this compatible with the Raspberry Pi 2?
Asked by: Andrew
It's designed to fit nicely onto the Pi Model A or B but also works perfectly fine with the Model B+ as long as you don't mind the PCB overhangs the USB ports by 5mm.
