• Connects your Raspberry Pi to the centre of your electronic creations
• A pre-assembled unit that plugs straight into a breadboard like an integrated chip
• Use this to add more functionality and control than was ever possible before
• Pin layout the same as Raspberry Pi
• Compatible with 40 pin models: A+, B+ and V2How does the T-Cobbler Plus improve my Raspberry Pi?
Your Raspberry Pi is designed to interact with the outside world with the 40 GPIO pin header. However, it is not straightforward to connect the Raspberry Pi to components on a breadboard. This problem is solved with the T-Cobbler Plus, which provides a bridge of connectivity between your Raspberry Pi and the components on your breadboard.
This means your Raspberry Pi can now acts as the brains for your electronic circuit, the same way an integrated chip would. The advantage of the Raspberry Pi over an integrated chip is that it is re-programmable, is able to accept and store feedback and is more capable of processing and displaying information.
With your Raspberry Pi combined with the T-Cobbler Plus in a breadboard, you can easily connect and disconnect electronic peripherals. These include buttons, LEDs, LCD screens and even infrared transmitters and receivers. The flexibility of using a breadboard for your Raspberry Pi really does mean that you can cobble together any project that you see fit.
What can I use the T-Cobbler Plus for?
The T-Cobbler Plus is a fantastic board for you to improve your skills in creating embedded electronic projects. This model comes with a header unit attached to the T-Cobbler Plus board and is ready to plug and play.
The ribbon cable is what connects the header of your Raspberry Pi to the header of the T-Cobbler Plus, which is placed into a breadboard. The layout of the pins on the T-Cobbler that goes into the breadboard is exactly the same as the Raspberry Pi GPIO. This is a marvellous design because it means that the 40 GPIO pins from the Raspberry Pi are all being utilised. It also means that no reference diagrams are required because the setup of the pins is the same as the Raspberry Pi layout. In addition to this, each pin on the T-Cobbler is clearly labelled, making it very simple when connecting wires and accessories.
What is compatible with the T-Cobbler Plus?
Programs communicated using I2C and SPI will be compatible for use with GPIO pins of the Raspberry Pi.
The 40 pin ribbon cable included is suited to all Raspberry Pi models with 40 GPIO headers. This includes the models A+, B+ and Version 2. If you would like to obtain a T-Cobbler for a different model, please see the 26-pin version available here.
