Product overview

  • Compatible with a range of sockets, such as Intel LGA 775, 115x and AMD FM2+, AM3+
  • Supplied with a 90mm fan which spins at a maximum 2,500RPM, producing 29.5dBA of noise
  • The fan moves 47.68 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air, producing fantastic airflow around your system
  • Fitted with a 4-pin fan connector, which is backwards compatible with 3-pin fan connections
  • Three long heat pipes embedded in the copper base provides rapid and efficient heat dissipation
  • Manufacturer part number: AK-968
  • Features pulse width modulation (PWM), which allows for full control over the exact fan speed

High air flow and low noise
This multi-platform Akasa X4 CPU cooler has been designed to give you efficient heat dissipation at low noise levels. The fan can spin at a maximum 2,500RPM, which results in 29.5dBA of noise, 2.56mm/H2O of static pressure and the movement of 47.68 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air. This is a fantastic amount of airflow which will help keep your heat pipes and CPU cool. To ensure your CPU is well cooled, three long heat pipes are embedded into the copper baseplate for rapid and even heat absorption.

Adjustable fan speed
The fan supports pulse width modulation (PWM) for increased speed control, so you can adjust the speed to as low as 600RPM, from 2500RPM. This reduces the amount of noise emitted to a near silent 17dBA. With such a wide RPM range, you can customise the fan speed to find the right balance between fan noise and performance.

High compatibility
Akasa’s Easy Select Clip uses Intel reference push-pin retention to mount the cooler onto Intel LGA775, LGA115x (1156, 1155, 1151, 1150) and LGA1366 sockets. This makes installation quick and easy since a back plate isn’t needed. For AMD sockets AM2, AM2+ and AM3 a cam-lever clip is used for safe and easy attachment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its a good Fit for most motherboards as it does not say in the maplins description that it fits 1155 sockets but I researched it and it does it is also really easy to install no screws needed just a push on the clips so it clips in and when you want to take it off you twist the screws so it will come out. i had never used a CPU cooler like this before I was used to the stock ones but this was even easier to install. Another thing is the price is good as well and you can collect it from store. Other websites would sell it for Ј19 but the delivery cost would push it past Ј25 I would recommend this to any one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from i purchased this not knowing that the power connector was a 4 pin and my motherboard connection is 3 pin, so i googled info and found that it will work with just connecting to the 3 pin connector on my motherboard as the 4th connection is for newer motherboards that control the fan speed on and off, which meant that the fan will be on constantly with mine but i do not mind as the fan noise is minimal and my tower sits at knee height next to my pc desk and i do not nitice the fan to much and my unit is running nice and cool compared to the standard cooling unit i had in. all in all a bit fiddly when i realised wrong pin configuration but with a bit perseverance i got it working fine. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i so happy with the temp of my AMD4600X2 skt 939 this cooler has cut the temp down to 42c it was hitting around 55c full load with old cooler on. even under full load its just 42c great cooling for such a low price. im using arctic silver 5 paste. would recommend this cooler.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I installed this and it works great on the pwm of the motherboard, cpu is at about 24c idle and rises to about 36 max (but then i am in a colder than usual room. not tried overclocking as my motherboard is a little weak but runs great and quieter too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, budget-friendly and powerful cooler Here is my result: Room Temp: 21 degree Using standard Intel heatsink: Idle: 34-36 degrees Full-load: 75-82 degrees Using Akasa X4 performance cooler: Idle: 28-32 degrees Full-load: 60-65 degrees CPU: Intel Xeon E3 1230 V3 3.3 to 3.7Ghz Good improvement for the price, very quiet as well. If you don't overclock(shouldn't do anyway), there will be no need for water cooling at all, this is way to go tbh.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broke my AMD Bracket! Trying to fit this to AMD AM3 socket was incredibly fiddly. The bar provided was supposed to slot into two grooves, but it would just keep popping out. It was really difficult to get the cooler on and get the clip to stay in the groove. I thought I had finally managed it and was pulling over the retainer bar, when the plastic clip of the cpu bracket snapped off. I assume it had slipped out the groove and was trying to exert too much pressure. I was able to temporarily run the computer with the cooler just resting on top the cpu. It did run cooler, fan was slower and quieter than the stock (thus two stars and not one), but since I can't fit it, its worse than useless. I don't know if I was just unlucky and the retainer clip should normally sit easily in the grooves, or if this one is just too awkward. Emergency trip back to maplin tomorrow to see what can be done (and if they have replacement cpu brackets)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After trying to fit this for 15 mins I gave up and put back the intel heatsink (which makes a lot of noise). The plastic clips, instead of screws, real are a bad idea.

Hi, I have a amd a10 6700; a75 chipset cpu, does this cooler come with the correct mounting for board?

Asked by: stuLawton
The cooler is suitable for FM2 chip as long as the original CPU bracket is still in situ on the motherboard.
