Rated 1 out of 5 by from faulty This is the second one I bought because the SD card reader didn't work on the first one...and guess what it doesn't work on the second one either. It appears to work only once after that any SD cards don't work. The Akasa website suggest a firmware upgrade which I did...makes no difference. Avoid at all costs

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this product !!! Well, I've had this installed for several months so have give it some time. The times i have used it, it does not even read any of the several SD Micro SD cards i have. The USB sockets are flimsy and hardly hold the USB cable in place without flopping about which can only mean getting poor connections and eventually they just fall out. I've ended up pulling it out and bought a better. As the old saying goes "you get what you pay for"

Does this connect direct to a Asus motherboard USB 3.0 19pin connector and a USB 2.0 9pin connector?

Asked by: Rick27
as long as the motherboard you intend to use has an INDUSTRY STANDARD USB 3 header and an INDUSTRY STANDARD USB 2 header, and you have 2 free MOLEX power connectors then it will fit. To use the card reader you need to also attach to a SATA data port We have provided a user manual at the bottom of the listing (or click here) https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/A89NL-4406.pdf Which shows all of the connections required to use all of the features of the device.

Is the connection for this item to the mother board USB connector?

Asked by: Sydb
It uses up to 5 different connections onto the PC motherboard based on what you have and what functionality you intend to use If you check the "CONNECTIONS" part of this quick start guide it explains the function of each. https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/A89NL-4406.pdf

Like Dougie, I have connected my Akasa to my ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard. This does not support USB3 from the board however USB2 working fine but SD card reader not working. This might become a frequently asked question. What do I need to do?

Asked by: Martynm
Try updating the firmware, I had similar problems updated the firmware a couple of days ago and it has worked perfectly since.

From the 2 pictures I dont understand if this fits onto the floppy bay or the CD Rom bay. I have a free floppy bay onto my Desktop Lenovo M57 (which is littler than the CD Rom bay) and I would like to understand if this article is what I need. I have a 4 pin molex (IDE type) connector and a SATA power connector free. Can you please attach more pictures of the back of the article to understand how this will connected. Thanks a lot
Asked by: pippovattelapesca@gmail.com
Les - WRONG! "Required Bay: 3.5" internal". 10 seconds googling told me. At least you got the 5.25" size of the CD bay correct, unlike your colleague in another post.
