Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quality product. Well made piece of kit. Good fitting 20 pin plug with enough cable to plug from the front side of my motherboard to the back of the case [Corsair Obsidian 550D]. Not that you see the back of the case that often but it's nice that it's black so it blends in. Odd that the sockets are upside down but can be in-screwed and turned through 180 degrees so not a problem. For a shade over £7 you can't go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product I'd previously asked the cable length and it wasn't quite long enough at 40 cm. So I also ordered a 19-pin M to 19-pin F USB 3 extension cable - Maplin don't stock these so I had to look elsewhere. I thought I wouldn't be able to use the Akasa bracket until the extension arrived but in fact the quoted 40 cm is on the conservative side and it does just fit without an extension - however the latter will facilitate better cable management when it arrives. The cable seems good quality speed-wise. Copying a 20 GB file from a USB3 5,400 rpm portable hard drive to a SATA 2 10,000 rpm Velociraptor HDD I was able to consistently achieve a data rate in excess of 100 MegaBytes per second. That's using a Silverstone EC01P USB3 PCIe-x1 card on an Asus P5Q Mobo with an Intel Quad Core Q6600 @2.4 GHz cpu. It's an oldish PC in an oldish Akasa 62 case with no USB3 front ports but the case has a front mounted backplate socket and the Akasa bracket fitted that perfectly.

Can i use this to replace the old 2.0 usb's in my pc ?

Asked by: Robert124
No it has a dedicated USB 3 connection that mates with a unique socket on the motherboard. It looks like this http://i.imgur.com/qYqfU9r.jpg You can add USB 3 with one of these https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/usb-30-pci-e-adapter-n64ln as long as you have a spare PCI-e 1x in your computer.

How long is the cable please? I would need to run from a PCI-e card to a rear panel type slot at the front of my case (Akasa 62). This is about twice the typical distance from a Mobo USB3 connector to the back of a case.

The included cable length is 40cm.
