Product overview

• 80W continuous (RMS)(2 x 40W RMS) power output with a 120W peak output for a clear quality sound
• An active speaker with a built-in amplifier
• Ideal for use in a smaller venue, a studio or in the home
• 6.35mm jack and Phono (RCA) inputs allow you to connect a wide range of audio products to these speakers

How powerful is this speaker?
With its 120W peak output, this speaker is perfect for giving you a great DJ set whether in a smaller venue, in a studio or at home. Its compact design will allow you to place these speakers wherever you choose without getting in the way. As the Elevate 5 is supplied as a pair of speakers, this will give you an excellent stereo output.

What connections does this speaker come with?
The Alesis Elevate 5 speaker system comes with twin phono (RCA) and 6.35mm jack input connections. This will allow you to connect a wide range of products such as computers, tablets, smart phones and MP3 players to your speakers to give you great quality sound when played.

Does the speaker require an amplifier?
The Alesis Elevate 5 speakers have a built in amplifier. This will allow you to connect audio products directly to the pair of speakers to be played instead of through an external amplifier.

What is the difference between RMS and peak output?
RMS, which measures a speaker’s average power output, will allow you to compare various speakers of a similar size regardless of brand. The peak output is the maximum power the speaker can handle from the amplifier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I've just had to return a pair of the Alesis Elevate 5 speakers to the nearest Maplin store as they had a faulty power light, which would flicker on and off at various intervals and I had to tap the front panel to get it to come on again! Upon opening the box of the replacement pair I found the build quality to be somewhat poor (which apart from the faulty light was near flawless with the first), finding numerous problems with the right hand speaker; the veneer covering disjointed, leaving an unsightly line right the way across the base and a small gap near the front plastic bezel, what looked like a small cut or tear in the bass cone, the bass part (woofer) of the speaker was badly aligned and not centralised and finally the volume knob, which appeared loose at first but then became very tight and difficult to turn before slackening off again once turned up to near maximum. I will be returning this pair of speakers too I'm afraid, with a view to trying a third (and final) pair of the speakers. Had the first set not had a fault I would have given the speakers a five star rating as I did get to try them first before having them replaced. The sound quality was very good for the price, with clear higher frequencies and a good solid and relatively punchy bass, and that was without using the bass boost function! They worked superbly with my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) making all the sounds clean and crisp, lifting many sounds which had previously been dull, muddy and almost inaudible when using a set of 2.1 desktop speakers. I did however find the RCA to phono cable (which is used to connect the speakers to a computer or a mixer) to be too short and inadequate, resulting in me having to purchase a much longer one from my local computer hardware store! As we tend to find with many products which are manufactured in China, the build quality varies from product to product and can be very 'hit and miss'. I will still recommend these speakers, but if you're as unlucky as I am, you could end up replacing them before you get a pair which are of the standard you'd expect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bang for Buck I thought id leave my review for the Alesis Elevate 5s as the only review on here about them seems to be just bad luck and i believe they deserve a better rating. These little speakers totally shocked me in their performance considering price and size. Ive always been into good audio equipment and wanted a pair of these for pc speakers and they certainly didn't disappoint, loud, clear and punchy. Pros: for the price, great sound easy simple setup great build quality cons: included cables 3.5mm to phonos and speaker connection are a little on the short side, don't expect to place the speakers more then 1 meter apart with included male to male 1/4 jack cable, id advise grabbing a longer one if you do and get your own phonos or 1/4 jacks to connect to your audio source, easy fix really but needs a mention. minor point ive literally just noticed writing this, when listening really quite they turn themselves off after 10mins or so, they seem to think nothing is playing and go into power saving......i do have them super quite, just audible in a quiet room late at night, a slight increase in volume prevents this. verdict: if you want some impressive little speakers for any home application these will do the job.........i rarely will use these at full volume to their full potential, much louder and your in the relm of upsetting neighbours. professional dj monitors.....nah...... but for the price not a million miles away.

I have bought these speakers now. I have connected the leads from my Sony turntable pslx300 to them. The turntable has a switch selector of line or pre-amp. When I switch to phono the sound is much quieter than when switched to pre-amp . why?

Asked by: Foz25
Not knowing anything about your turntable I couldn't say definitively why its louder, other than the line is probably being amplified slightly on the pre amp side. I would suggest you contact your turntable manufacturer for the specifics.

Hi, I was just wondering would these speakers be suitable for Children's Parties in village halls? also could you connect these to a mixer, radio mics and laptop for Children's Parties?

Asked by: Josh1997
These are essentially PC speakers but will work in your intended application, But may not be loud enough in larger Halls .
