What makes this mixer different?
This compact mixer with built-in effects doubles as a computer recording interface so you can mix, record, or do both at the same time. You can connect microphone inputs, guitar-direct inputs and line-level inputs, which are used for a wide range of effects. Whatever the input, the Multimix 8 USB FX delivers clean audio and hassle-free computer connection to your PA or recording system.

How can I connect to the mixer?
The Multimix 8 USB FX features four XLR inputs with independent gain pots on channels one to four. These XLR inputs also have a switchable phantom power option to accommodate both dynamic and condenser microphones. Line inputs are also available on all eight channels of the mixer and there is a high-impedance input on channel two, which allows direct connection of a guitar or bass. This is a great advantage for musicians looking to get a clean signal without degradation of the signal. A phone (RCA) stereo input is also included, adding the ability to mix in audio from other sources such as a CD or LP player.

How does the USB recording work?
This mixer contains a complete USB recording interface. This means you can plug the Multimix 8 mixer into your Mac or PC without installing any software drivers and enjoy a digital-direct stereo connection with almost any audio software program. The Multimix 8 USB FX enables bidirectional stereo signal, so musicians can record the stereo main output into their computer and listen back using the mixer with headphones or monitoring loudspeakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful mixing desk! Allows me to mix Skype callers from my Mac, my studio mic, guest mic and wireless mics for my live stream. I would reccomend this for any one wanting a mixing desk for a pub or small club or just for use in a hobby (such as running an internet radio station etc).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This unit is ideal for recording our band practices, I connect this to my netbook and it records the mix. There’s enough inputs for all of our band, however we really need the 16-channel version to record all of the drums

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had my mixer 6 months then one day i turned it on, it poped and didnt come back on. Took it into maplins. I got it returned with a new power pack, worked for 2 minutes then poped again. 2nd time i took it back and got returned with a second power pack and popped once again and wouldnt come on anymore. I then got given a new mixer to replace it. This worked for about 2 months upto day and again today i switched it on an guess what. It popped again, going to phone maplins up tomorrow but i wouldn't reccomend this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible product. Brillant mixing desk for starters and more advenced users.Brillant for live proformers and it has a built in amp to maximize the sound. One problem with cuebace, it can send audio to cubace but can't record straight to cuebace. I have already recorded through a computer but it was a live recording through various programs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb mixing desk! Had mine for a year & it has done absolutely everything I've needed it for and more. Only one slight moan & that is, you have to keep power pack well ventilated or it will blow - other than that, this is one fantastic desk with some really cool on-board effects .... I recommend the Alesis multimix 8 to anyone. Perfect for any live music or recordings - 100% spot on!

Can l safely connect to one amplifier output and then connect 2 separate  stereo speakers and then control each pair separately

The mixer is not designed to receive an amplified signal and should not be connected to the output of an amplifier.

Are the monitor and main outputs balanced or unbalanced? I want to direct these to a pair of Yamaha HS5 monitor speakers, which may accept either, but I would prefer to have a degree of noise immunity provided by balanced connections

Asked by: rondora
The outputs are unbalanced

Hi, If you connect this to a computer using USB, is that possible to get each input stream (for example drums mics) separately to a sound mixing software such as Audacity ? For an example I will see each mic stream separately in the audacity to control.

Asked by: Mili
You would see the streams separately, but it would be down to you to differentiate which was which.
