High-pitched frequencies deter cats, dogs and other animals from invading your garden. The signal is inaudible to humans but animals find the signal uncomfortable and will leave. Other devices emit a constant sound, but Animal Away saves batteries with its infrared motion activation. The PIR sensor detects and triggers ultrasonic/sonic plus flash emission. Switchable to shift to a sonic sound.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This item comes without a mounting pole, which is essential for easy locating in the garden. It has settings for both inaudible (to the human ear) noise, and also inaudible plus a high pitched lower frequency (which is audible to the human ear). This "dual noise" setting is intended to deter older cats which have lost some of their normal hearing, as well as the younger moggies who can still pick up the inaudible range. It seems that all of my gardens feline visitors should have gone to Specsavers, as neither the flashing lights nor either of the sound ranges have the slightest effect on them. I bought three of these, and the only thing that they irritate is me - the lower frequency sound is quite annoying if you do not use the option of switching it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this to stop cats using my garden as a toilet and to date it has worked flawlessly, I mounted the device on a wood stake 3 inches off the ground facing the area where the cats were relieving themselves and this has stopped them completely! Very happy with this product :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems to have stopped foxes digging up my father's lawn. I'd certainly query the 'inaudible' bit. The neighbours hear it & I'm 55 but it's still well within the frequency of my failing hearing range. Still, if it faces your boundary, you can always avoid skirt round it to avoid it's movement detector ark . It's a pain to keep turning it on & off so perhaps Maplin buyers might challenge the makers to come up with an improved Mk2 version with a light detector so it can be set to only come on after dark?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought this derrent and fixed it to garage wall to stop cats getting up on cars and scratching them when they get down. Doesn't work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from this one works, the strobe is strong and the inaudible noise must be terrible. Those pesky and smelly cats jump and run when it comes on and the dogs don't even notice the device. But you need a power supply as running time on battery is not good

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I installed this and the combination of flashing lights and sound is very effective on cats. Needs to be repositioned from time to time so they don't find a way behind or around it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought to repell cats out of our garden. It simply did not work. The cat was moving centimeters in front of the device and still it did not switch on. And even manually triggert, cats seemed not to be bothered by the sound. Brought it back.

does this product work for badgers or just small animals

Asked by: boohoo4
Whilst the ultrasonic deterrent has not been tested on badgers, it does utilise a PIR detector to sense movement, this in turn triggers a flashing light mechanism which will provide an active deterrent for most animals.

what polarity is the AC power to be set too? Is the centre positive or or negative? And what tip should I use? Many AC power supplies come with a range of tip types? Thanks

Asked by: IanC
This would use a centre positive tip, like our code L46BL
