Two cameras offering wire-free home surveillance

Everything you need is in the box including screws and fixings, to get your wire-free security system up and running as soon as possible. Complete with two cameras to ensure that your home is covered from multiple angles, and a quick and easy setup, the Arlo Pro makes home security simple.

Ideal for indoors and out
Suitable for use both indoors and outdoors, the Arlo Pro cameras are weatherproof, rated at IP65 and feature a 100+ decibel siren, which can be controlled remotely, or triggered by a motion or audio detection, so that you can stop intruders in their tracks. A long lasting rechargeable battery powers your cameras so that you don’t have to worry about laying cables or a big installation job.

Two-way audio for added peace of mind
With two-way audio, you can listen in and talk back through the built-in speaker and microphone on the cameras, using your smartphone. Perfect for missed deliveries, and monitoring your loved ones, or pets.

Stay informed, wherever you are
Instant mobile alerts keep you informed of any sound or motion detected, by sending a notification straight to your phone. The free Arlo app also allows you to check in at any time, and view your camera system remotely using iOS, Android, Apple TV or a web browser.

Capture more
Wide-angle PIR motion sensors built-in to the Arlo Pro cameras, and a wide-angle lens providing a 130-degree viewing angle, means that you can capture more of every movement with your Arlo Pro system. Integrated night vision automatically switches on at night, with 850nm LEDs illuminating up to 25 feet.

Flexible, customisable monitoring
With flexible powering options and storage options you can tailor your Arlo Pro security system to suit your needs. You can use your Arlo Pro wireless, or plugged in if you prefer, and with every Arlo Pro system you get free cloud storage, to keep up to seven days of motion and audio triggered recording for up to five cameras per account. The Arlo Pro also allows you to connect a USB drive to the base station for the choice of optional local backup storage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Here's the reality Ok, the arlo pro is a great solution and does everything it says it does apart from the battery lasting 4 months! If you live anywhere with a reasonable amount of footfall or residential traffics don't expect more than around 4-5 days worth of charge do be mindful of where you place for easy access. Having said that this is a great cam with easy setup and installation despite hanging of one screw be careful it's tightly help in the raw plug. The app works well too so I would recommend this just don't believe the best case senaro on batt life, sure if you live somewhere with very little detection 4 months maybe but a busy residential road not! Buy it though it had worked for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall a great camera system. So to start with the ease of set up, each camera is attached to the wall with 1 screw, so a quick jolt up the ladder, drilled one home with a cordless drill, popped in the wall plug, screw the screw most of the way in, then the ball type connection just slides on. Word of warning, due to Alro using a magnetic mount, ensure they are mounted high enough to not be reached by potential thieves. So after screwing the cameras up you can use the low res low lag “position mode” to set the camera angle whilst up your ladder, just be careful not to drop your phone! Don’t worry I didn’t. The only slight criticism I have here is the cameras don’t have the widest angle of view so getting the alignment of what you want to see can be a little tricky. If you have a look at my photo of the back garden (one with all the toys) you will see what I mean, this camera could not be pointed any more towards the door, which I would have liked ideally but it still gives a great image of the back garden, shed, gate entrance and patio. Netgear also provide 7 days free cloud recording, which is really handy, you can pay for more, but personally, if something happens I know I would notice within 7 days and backup the recording to my phone, if you are away for long periods of time, however, the upgrade might be handy for you. Battery wise, mine has been running in the “optimise battery” mode and are at about 30% battery after 4 weeks, and I do have high activity as kids play on the front and back most days, so I expect to charge them every 6 weeks or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bit of kit Opted for the Pro Arlo’s as I wanted two cameras up high with a connected power source so I didn't have to worry about going up and down ladders changing the batteries. The Wasserstein waterproof 6m power cable is an extra and I tracked some down form eBay for £16 each. I plan to buy the normal less expensive Arlo's for the ground level stuff as they can be mixed and match with the Pro Arlo cameras and base station. The built in alarm siren on the Pro base station is another nice feature which can be triggered on and off manually like a panic button via the app or browser or by the camera's motion sensor for peace of mind and added security. The flexibility of this system in very impressive everything including each individual camera can be adjusted, such as motion sensitivity, night vision or sound level. What really made my go for Arlo over the Nest system is the subscription charges, Nest want £8 a month for one or more cameras but with Arlo it's free for up to 5 cameras. Good job because even though the Arlo is brilliant in all aspects it's not what you would call cheap. I must say how impressed I was with the selection of CCTV equipment and the staffs knowledge on the subject at the Worcester’s store, it’s good to see Maplin finally specialise in a market area which can be a minefield to any technophobe. Thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Piece Of Kit The cameras and base stations are definitely high quality. Physically installing them is easy, particularly as the cameras are totally wireless. This also easily enables the cameras to be tried in different locations without any need for re-cabling - great! Setting up rules, modes, and schedules and the relationship between them could, I believe, be easier, although I got there in the end. I also think that more thought is required re actions to be taken when movement is detected, e.g. in the middle of the night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A simple to use system that leaves you always connected. This is a really simple to set up system, it's pretty much ready to out of the box, without all the wires you need with many of the home security systems. You will need to connect the camera's to the hub and then to your phone or computer, however when it comes to hanging up the cameras you are looking at just needing to place a screw into the wall. While this does, of course, make it easy to hang, it is also perhaps a risk that people may reach up and remove the magnetically connected camera. You may now wonder why you don't just hang it up high? Well, you're going to want easy access to be able to recharge the batteries, as while we are well into month 2 of one camera battery charge, we have been lucky to get 7 days from the camera placed at the back, which gets a lot less traffic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product After a break in I researched to find the product with best reviews. Chose this over Ring (would have liked door bell camera) as prefer to home alarm facility and the actual look of the cameras. Had an initial problem (faulty battery) ....good back up service from Netgear and great service from Maplin. Chose Maplin over other suppliers (all similar price) due to reputation which was confirmed when I hit the problem. So far so good although battery life appears shorter than stated.

For the Arlo Pro 2 camera can you buy a 220-240V power adaptor? Does Netgear provide that part?

Asked by: Rick
I'm afraid we do not stock this part. You would need to speak to Netgear.

Hi - Putting the camera outside isn’t an option for us as every where is low enough to access because of the roof. Can I put the camera indoors but facing out of the window? Will it still work? Thanks

Asked by: Jab1
Unfortunately, our cameras are not suitable to be used through a window.

Hi, we can’t mount the camera outside as every suitable place is unfortunately accessible without a ladder!  Can I mount the camera indoors but facing out of the window? Will it still work? The windows are big and wide so good angle coverage Thanks

Can the files be used as evidence in court in the UK? The videos downloaded from the arlo website do not contain a time date stamp, this information can only be extracted from the metadata (confirmed by Arlo).

Asked by: Foxtrot
I would advise you check with a check a solicitor for up to date and accurate information on this subject.

Asked by: a_pain
All available options for storage can be found on the Arlo web page. There is no feature to record to a hard drive.

The battery is charged via a USB connection - could you have that permanently connected to keep the battery full charged

Asked by: JohnMac
Sorry the unit does not currently support an always on / hardwire connection ... The manufacturer Netgear has suggested that a hardwire (always on) connection may become available in the future and has even hinted that a solar charge solution is in development, but nothing has been announced just yet.
