Rated 4 out of 5 by from The VM111 is a good little programmer. Good aspects, 1. The prebuilt one is good quality and works well with the software provided. 2. The on board leds and switches are really useful for testing simple projects. The demo2 code gives different led flash patterns depending on the switches pressed. Down sides are 1. No power supply, need to get a 15 volt DC adapter but 12V seems to work fine. The docs say an unregulated but the board says regulated 15V. 2. The software is a bit confusing. If you program something other than the chip provided which is a pic16F627 then the demos may not work. 3. The usb dongle I tried comunicated with the board but probably did not program it properly. the RS232 is not a used as a RS232 and the timings go a bit off which cause probelms. my desktop had an rs232 and it worked fine, and alot faster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, well assembled. Easy to use and really useful test LEDs built in. I recommend you download the latest software from Microchip's website. I've programmed a variety of different PICs with this programmer very successfully. You need a native RS232 port for this item to work, it uses more than just the data lines from the serial port so it won't work with USB-RS232 emulators.
