What can I expect from the wireless connections of this router?
The RT-AC88U ASUS Router is a powerful, ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi router with a dual-band Wi-Fi speed of 3100Mbps. This makes it ideal for low latency online gaming, smooth 4K streaming and extremely fast file-sharing. With the 5GHz band with a data rate of up to 2167Mbps and a 2.4GHz band of up to 1000Mbps, you can have multiple people streaming high data-consuming content at the same time. The MU-MIMO feature gives every compatible device its own dedicated full-speed Wi-Fi connection, so that multiple devices can connect at the same time without slowing down the network. RT-AC88U connects to multiple MU-MIMO compatible clients at each device's maximum speed simultaneously.

What sized processor comes with the RT-AC88U and RAM?
The RT-AC88U comes equipped with 512MB of RAM and 128MB Flash, which works side-by-side with the 1.4GHz CPU to move movies, music and other large files. USB data transfer enjoy up to over 100Mbps speed and the router download/upload speed (WAN-LAN throughput) up to 1800Mbps. With double the memory of most routers - these data transfer speeds allows you to do more, faster.

What wired connections are available on this router?
With eight Gigabit LAN ports, you can connect up to eight Ethernet-compatible devices simultaneously. Non Wi-Fi devices like smart TVs, game consoles, set-top boxes, media players, NAS storage devices and more can now have their own exclusive dedicated ports. This helps make your RT-AC88U your digital home hub. These ports can be used to provide a stable transfer of data between devices that require high network usage, or to attach devices that do not have the ability to connect to your wireless network.

You can use the USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports to connect USB-enabled devices, such as external storage drives, printers and 3G/4G dongles, to your ASUS router and share them with other users via Wi-Fi - thereby creating a media server.

What network management can I use with this router?
You can control your network from anywhere with the ASUS Router App. This new app is both intuitive and robust, allowing you to set up your router, manage network traffic, diagnose connection issues and even update firmware, all without needing to boot up a PC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best wireless router ever used I bought this router to improve the range and throughout of my home wireless network. After replacing my aging Netgear, I now get 150mb/s in every room of my house...this was previously on 30mb/s. Setup was really simple and the user interface is the best I have used. I really enjoyed limiting my son's bandwidth speed to 1mb/s just to annoy him ;-) So far no complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast, Pretty, Only a Few Flaws The ASUS RT-AC88U in everyday use, well you don’t actually notice it. Previously I was shouting at my WiFi devices because the signal was terrible, distancing my device beyond arm's length putting my shoulder out. WiFi strength is more than enough, I can actually go to the shop across the road and still use my own WiFi. Watching videos, looking at pictures and backing up via phone and computer couldn’t be easier. The lack of Google Cloud Print support is a big gripe for me. I don’t have that much space to set up my printer permanently, but I’d make room for Cloud Print. It does have its own way of enabling printer support, just it’s not Google’s way, which would make it much easier to use. Theres tons of little options that are not really needed by me right now, like Link Aggregation, which combines ports 1 and 2 to create a super fast wired connection with speeds up to 2 Gbps for your NAS drive. But also loads I do use, like VPN. Wherever you may be to connect to your actual internet connection securely via tunneling. So when you're out and about and you see some free WiFi, you can use the VPN feature to allow you to surf safe and securely. I use the USB 2 port on the back of the RT-AC88U due to the horrible placement of the USB 3.0 port at the front. Not sure if it was an oversight, but keeping the USB 3.0 under a little flap on the front really kills it for me. Another design flaw for me is the inability to mount it on a wall or under a desk. It has a rather large footprint, my desk is big, but could really do with the extra space. Where the design is awesome, the look. Peaking through the vent on the top you can see a lovely red anodised heatsink. This thing makes my mancave look a tad bit boring. Overall this router could remove all the hassle of ISP routers and make your life easier. It’s one less thing to worry about, it’s a computer in itself (1.4GHz dual-core / 512MB RAM / 128MB Flash) , it has a job and it knows how to do it well.

We have Gigaclear internet with download usually around the 800Mbps but the wifi is not to good as the fibre router is wifi n, so I'm after a good wifi access signal. What could I expect from the Asus? I know it definitely will be a lot slower than wired,
