Celebrate in style with three flashing LED greetings cards. With fun designs and amazing electronics create a circuit using paint instead of wires to create cards that cause a buzz. Each card comes with a 3V battery and flashing LED to make bold and colourful designs when you use the 10ml black paint.
How do the cards work?
These cards use Bare Conductive electrical paint to complete the circuits on the cards as well adding to the designs. Conductive, easy to use, water based and non-toxic, this paint is a great way to introduce and play with the ideas of electric conductivity. Conductive paint can be applied to a variety of surfaces other than card such as wood, textiles and some plastics. The paint dries at room temperature, and if you make a mess it can be removed with soap and water.
How can conductive paint complete a circuit?
Insulators like wood, card or fabric have very low electrical conductivity, so you cannot use them to carry electricity. However, metals, plasma and water carry electricity well which is why they are used in electronic circuits. Conductive paint becomes more conductive when it dries. When dry, the paint has enough electric conductivity to complete a circuit, letting you power the LED. Conductive paint is a great alternative to acid etching, as it can be used without gloves and masks. Bare conductive electrical paint is not suitable for application onto bare skin.
