What can I do with this bundle?
Our gold grade Battle Hard gaming motherboard bundle supplies you with an advanced base for building a PC gaming system. It consist of an Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz CPU, ASUS’s Z170-P ATX motherboard and a 4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM module. All you’ll need to add to this to get a system going is a power supply, hard drive or SSD, operating system, graphics card and a case to house it all.

How good is the processor?
The Intel quad-core i5-6400 CPU has a base clock speed of 2.7GHz and a boost speed of 3.3GHz. This boost speed is automatically achieved by the processor through use of Intel’s Turbo Boost technology 2.0. With this technology, the system determines if you need the extra power and, if temperatures allow, you’ll get the increased speed on one core. Overall this processor gives you the ability to game and multitask for improved productivity thanks to its excellent performance.

What makes this motherboard different?
ASUS’s Z170-P motherboard is great for any rig that you would like to future-proof and be able to upgrade in the future. This is primarily thanks to its multitude of connections and expansion slots. It has USB 3.1 type-C connection and an M.2 third generation M key socket, allowing you to use faster M.2 SDDs for faster boot and load time in your games.

The motherboard has been built with 5X Protection II – the finest components, an excellent circuit design and exacting standards to guarantee quality and long-term durability has been used, resulting in exceptional protection and stability for your build. One example of this is the exclusive circuit design, which has built-in voltage regulators that protect other components from damage caused by unexpected high level voltage surges. Second-generation ASUS T-Topology has also been included, allowing you to overclock DDR4 memory modules, with up to 3400MHz rated RAM supported.

How much memory is supplied?
Pre-installed on the motherboard is an 4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory stick (RAM module) which runs at 2400MHz. It’s heatspreader is made of pure aluminium, and the eight-layer PCB aids with providing faster heat dissipation. The PCB design also allows for higher overclocking headroom. Support for XMP 2.0 gives you trouble-free and automatic overclocking. Since only one DIMM slot is used, you’ll have three other slots free for future upgrades.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor bundle This has turned out to be a complete waste of money. I have a gtx 980 graphics card installed which I was advised is fully compatible and will run with the ram accompanied in the bundle. This is not the case. The drivers do not install fully to run on this motherboard and this needs more than 4gb of ddr4 which I was told it does not. I know have to buy more ram separately which now makes this more expensive than buying from overclockers etc. Given bad advice from start to finish by maplin staff who now really don't care about my problems I have encountered .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job nicely, but .... Pro's: Comes as a package pre sealed and set up. Good processor and motherboard, four slots for RAM. I needed a new board, processor and ram quickly. Con's: CPU fan plugged into Chassis monitoring pins, move that manually for it not to complain. It's rather important too. 4gb is poor, either don't come with anything or put a voucher off ram purchased separately. IT's about 290 + VAT (so 348) if you buy the bits separately without memory. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Value and lacking I need an LGA 1151 processor ASAP, and I had to buy this bundle since no other shops had any in Dublin, I knew it was bad value, to buy online from the UK would have saved me €140, but I needed the processor, so lets look at this from purely the products merits. This bundle does indeed slot straight into a compatible PC and is probably a really easy way to upgrade a PC if you're not experienced. The fact the person who assembled my bundle wasn't very good, the CPU fan wasn't plugged into the the CPU fan header, I saw that before I powered on the system to test the board, so I don't know if it would have came up with an error like most ASUS boards do. The RAM stick wasn't installed in the recommended slot either but that doesn't matter as much. What does matter a lot is the amount of memory. For €519, 4GB is an insult, you really can't use that much in a modern desktop without feeling like it's a serious issue, and indeed was pegged in a high workload machine at 100%. This kit really should have come with 8GB in dual channel at least. The motherboard that is bundled is an ok one, a solid budget Z170 board, a bit bare for rear IO and for internal IO and that probably couldn't handle a serious overclock on something like an i7 6700k, but for the included CPU is absolutely fine. The USB type C connector was a night touch, until I realised it was a USB 3.0, not 3.1, so only 5 Gb/s. This board is still solid, a bit smaller than full sized ATX and lacking in some areas for example it has only 3 fan headers, but still competent. The i5 6400 is a decent chip, it's 2.7 GHz base, 3.3 turbo and 3.1GHz turbo for all 4 cores out performed by old i5 3570k at stock turbo of 3.4GHz on all 4 cores just, so the IPC gains are visible there. More than capable of gaming with moderate to medium high end enthusiast graphic cards. On a whole I wouldn't recommend this unless you're PC had a system based fault and died and you needed a replacement that day but the i7 6700 with 8GB for only €300 or so more is a better deal and, while still has a premium, works out on par for the price but performance would be a lot better in the end.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but could be better I bought this as part of my first PC build, and it went relatively smoothly. 4GB of RAM is rather small for what I paid for it (£349), I'd expect to have 8GB as standard. Out of the box, the CPU fan was connected to one of the chassis fan plugs so I connected it to the correct plug, and the RAM was faulty. Maplin were absolutely brilliant in helping me with the faulty RAM. As I'd already built my PC and it was running fine, I didn't want to have to dismantle it all to take the motherboard bundle back (as it came as a bundle it had to be dealt with as a bundle). I went back to a different store (as I bought the last one in stock) and they exchanged the RAM from a different bundle then and there. The motherboard is a standard ATX board so will fit into most cases, it has a 6th gen processor that is good for most things. I'm not a gamer so I can't comment on what it's like handling games. I'm puzzled as to why it has PS/2 ports on it considering the interface is obsolete. There are two USB 2 ports and two USB 3.0 ports which I don't think are enough but are fine for the average user. It could do with a VGA port as standard as well - I have a VGA monitor so I had to buy a graphics card in order to use it. Overall, easy to set up and get working, but the supplied amount of RAM is simply not enough, there could be more USB ports, a VGA connection could be there. The processor is nice and speedy and perfect for heavy tasks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just needs that little bit more RAM i.e another 4 GB and will run most if not all game's unless the game dev's state you need more

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bundle for the price Yes you only get 4gb RAM but for an extra £60 you can add another 8gb and you'll be fine.

Is this board compatible of using an asus gtx 1060 full sized graphics card and a wifi card at the same time?

Asked by: User
It would depend on the fitting used on the WiFi card and any other expansion cards you require, but this should be possible. Ideally if you use a PCIe x1 size WiFi card it can fit above the graphics card.
