What could I use these radios for?
The Binatone Terrain 750 PMR radios are great for home use, holidays, camping trips or even for security. These PMR446 radios use the 446MHz frequencies for a clear signal without having to buy a licence. With a range of up to 8km, these radios are an ideal way to keep in touch without the need for a call plan or expensive handset. They also come with a backlit display and belt clip to keep the units secure.

What range can I get with these radios?
Get a range of up to 8km under ideal open conditions with no obstacles between the units. With medium ground based obstructions you can still signals get up to 4km away. Binatone estimate you can receive signals up to 2km away even in heavily built up areas, making this a great radio for a number of different applications.

How many channels are there?
Never be short of a clear frequency with 968 privacy combinations to choose from. The Binatone Terrain 750 has 8 channels - each channel has 38 CTCSS options and 83 DCS options. With VOX for hands-free operation and headset compatibility for move covert uses, this is a great all round PMR radio. A keypad lock stops you from accidentally changing channels and an optional roger bleep lets you know when people have finished talking. The Terrain 750 has 10 call tones to alert people with and a stop watch function to time your rounds.

How does my radio charge?
Charge your radios using the mains charging dock or use an adapter (not included) directly with the units. With up to 1 hour 30 minutes of talk time or up to 50 hours of standby mode you’ll get plenty of use out of these two-way radios. A battery indicator on the unit’s display screen and a low battery warning let you know when to charge up your handsets.

This two-way radio is compatible with most PMR446 set to the same channel and privacy combinations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Bought these so my poorly mum who is in her bedroom can call me when needed to save me running up and down the stairs to check on her. It is great. Mum finds it easy to use, although with her frail voice, she needs to try and speak louder. The call bell is great. If she hasn't got the breath to speak to me, she just presses the call bell. My hand set rings ( the tone you can set to your preference) then I go straight up to my mum. Gives me peace of mind. Caused a laugh when a female voice spoke and then realised it wasn't my mum, it was the taxi - soon sorted, I just chabged the channel. Also good value for money and well constructed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I used the previous 550 model on a daily basis as part of my job as an Electrical Inspector. One guy would sit at the fuse boards switching off circuits while the other guy went all over the building taking readings on sockets, lighting etc. Some buildings are 20 floors above and the 550 would struggle sometimes but the 750 model works fine. Yes you would get taxi companies or police sometimes coming across sae channel but they have several channels so 2 seconds changes the channel to a clear one. Headphone and mic would be handy whilst working in a quiet office environment too but turning the volume down a bit is ok for us. I had the 550 model for years and have dropped them many times of step-ladders etc when not using the clips. When dropped the battery plate and battery pack usually comes apart and goes flying but when reassembled they ALWAYS work. haha.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from was a little unsure about these two way radios, but needed a pair for my "sporting activities". decided on the Terrain 750's and purchased them today. had them on charge for an hour whilst reading the manual which is easy to understand. set channel on both to 3, showed wife how to use it, left her indoors and went for a walk out through Lower Earley (massive housing estate). It got to a point where I could hear her ok, but I was coming over distorted (and I was getting a taxi firm bleed over me at this point). Fired up Google Earth and measured the direct point to point distance across a couple of roads and numerous roof tops....... 854.7yds = 0.48 miles next test will be with it set to one of the DCS channels. Maybe fully charged batteries may make a difference (says to charge from new for 10-14hrs) downsides..... belt clip seems flimsy and the rubber cap to cover the side charging port and mic/headphone socket just won't stay pushed on and keeps flapping about, so I've taped it closed as won't be using them. given it a 4 star for now

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value Long Range radios I bought these for our drive from UK to Malta last year so I could keep in touch with my companion whilst around the streets of Strasbourg and Rome (our 2 main stopovers). The audio quality was beyond expectations as was the range. Even though it is stated as 8km line-of-sight, I thought we would get around 1km or less in a city - I was SO wrong. Strasbourg range was easily 2km and Rome (from Colosseum to our accommodation) was just starting to get a little noise in background, at 4.2km ! What a super buy :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well I have had a pair of the 750s for a couple of years and they have been put to many good uses. Great for keeping in touch between vehicles while travelling providing you don't get too far apart, up to about a mile is ok. We mainly use them between the house and when I am down in the greenhouse of our very long garden and they work perfectly for that. The call button can be pressed accidentally as it is quite proud of the front, as is the on/off button. Not a big issue but could be annoying! The batteries appear to last for at least a day of occasional use so no issues there. You could carry 4 AAA as a spare if required. Overall, a solid little radio that will take a few knocks without any problem with lots of user defined facilities if required. Great price too!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great audio quality, adequate range but two irritating features The range of this device is just what one would expect from a PMR device, around 1km over normal, open terrain. As usual, this is nothing like the claimed range (which might be obtainable from the top of Mount Snowden!). The audio quality is remarkably good. On the downside, it is very easy to switch the device off inadvertently and not know one is being called. The on/off switch is proud of the face and easily pressed when leaning across a table, workbench etc.. It is not deactivated by the lock facility. This on/off switch should be recessed. The other irritation is the rather long time taken to establish connection between devices, much longer than the 15yr old analogue PMR I'm replacing. It is easy for one's first couple of words not to be heard by the person one is contacting so, frustratingly, one must wait 2-3 secs before speaking.

Where can I get replacement batteirs from

Asked by: Douglas1
Despite Maplin not being able to source replacement battery packs it does seem that they are available from other parties - I found at least one supplier (I'd budget somewhere around £20 for a pair of packs) on an on-line retailer {named after a very long-river but not naming names as that would probably not get past moderation... 8-)}
