How does this weather station work?
The various sensors included with this weather station allow you to wirelessly transmit the data collected up to 100m to your base unit. This lets you know what the weather is like without even looking or going outside. The sensors and the base unit are battery powered, giving you a portable unit you can carry around the house with you.

What data can I view with this weather station?
You can view and record a variety of data with this weather station. . This includes the indoor and outdoor temperature, the humidity and air pressure as well as wind speed and direction and rain fall. It is viewable on the base unit that comes in the package but can also be recorded and stored on a computer to look back on at a later date.

What advantage do I have connecting it to my computer?
By connecting the weather station to your computer with the included USB cable, you are able to save the gained data to identify trends and weather patterns throughout set timelines. You can show your data over a 24 hour period or longer in a graph form so you can see the varying factors of that timespan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first version of this station simply fell apart due to age and the English acid rain which degraded the plastic. The new version appears similar but has a nicer looking desk station. Set up is easy although if you've not assembled one before you'll need to refer to the accompanying CD. My main gripe is the incredibly long leads everything is provided with except the anemometer to wind direct unit where the lead is not long enough to fit through all the lead clips and still reach. Also the new version now runs on the 433MHz bands as opposed to the older one which ran at 833MHz. It works ok though which is the main point.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well, it was B grade weather station but several fixing screws / bolts missing which made it impossible to assemble (but had 2 copies of software CD!), and other small bits loose in box. However...after a bit of a mutter and grumble and prolonged shed search, got it assembled / working and it seems a good bit of kit if you don't mind rather laborious touch screen set up. Software for PC seems V good and installed no problem. So...good value and good kit but surely someone could check what's in the box more carefully? Would have been 5 star if I hadn't had to search for missing bolt replacements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is a shame that my "B" grade item did not seem to be checked properly as this arrived with the wind direction sensor faulty. The bearing is very stiff almost seized, this is a well known fault with these units. Customer service dealt with this mistake smoothly by sending me a new unit but it should not have been necessary. This is my second unit of this type, the first working fine for over 5 years before a storm blew the mast down and broke most of the sensors. I hope this one lasts as long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Considering the weather station was supposed be B grade, it was in as new condition and perfect working order. This is a superb 'first' weather station, the only thing that lets it down is the mounting pole, which is next to useless, and the instructions for the touchscreen display. I bought an aluminium aerial mounting pole from screwfix, and the touchscreen I eventually just figured out through using it. That said, I still give it 5 stars for value :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little weather station and while the supplied software is windows only it works perfectly on a Mac using something like Weathercat or Weatherdisplay which recognise it as a Fineoffset 1080

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of kit, all worked very well straight out of the box. only reservation is the lack of fixed join in the mounting pole, which allows the top to turn, making the compass points a bit variable...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Although the weather station was listed as out of stock, it was very quickly available, and I received it promptly. I set it up with no problems, and it is giving satisfactory results. I value the service that I have received in the past from Maplins, and usually look to their site for anything that I require.

Can I take the data for all measurements from this unit without leaving it permanently connected to a PC? Does it have on-unit storage that can be downloaded periodically? Thanks
Asked by: Magnus
Yes the unit stores data on-board that can be downloaded later, it even has a Pie Chart indicator of how full the internal memory is (bottom right).
