Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best portable power source ever and with a lifetime guarantee This is no ordinary power pack, it is an extremely rugged, super-fast mobile power source that can charge a smart phone five times - I’m wondering how I ever managed to survive without it! I have used mobile power sources before, but they have tended to allow us just to get by, rather than providing a full charge to a device that we cannot be without and they have typically been rather flimsy gadgets that needed looking after. In both of these respects, the Brunton Heavy Metal is in a class of its own. First of all, it can charge a smart phone several times, or fully charge a tablet from scratch and we have also used it to charge iPods, our Garmin, a Kindle and USB rechargeable bike lights, often charging two devices at the same time. Of course it is good for charging anything that can be connected via a USB port, so camera, speakers, games consoles… the list is almost endless. As for its robustness, the lifetime guarantee offered by Brunton is surely the ultimate act of confidence

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for Pokemon Go Got this about 8 weeks ago and it has been in my pocket since. The 2.1amp charger output is perfect for fast charging a phone and will also keep a phone topped up whilst playing the power hungry pokemon go app. It also managed to slow charge my phone one night when the Polemon go app and the torch on my phone were in use which I was surprised by. Overall the battery output seems to be real as I have heard a lot of bad reviews online about USB chargers, and this one definitely keeps kicking for hours on end. Love it and so glad that I bought it. 4/5 stars because the in built USB leads are a little short even if it is lying on a desk, so you must provide your own lead for charging.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sturdy indeed... but a poor manual Can't speak for its ability to charge a phone yet, but one thing jumps out at you - the manual is lacking. It's very unusual for a port / cable to be both an input and an output (depending on how you connect it) - which the standard USB lead attached is. The manual does say 'two USB outputs' and does say (in small letters, on a separate page) 'connect to laptop or desktop with specific (= attached) lead' - but it doesn't clarify that if you plug the standard lead into a PC it will charge the battery, *or* if you plug it into a phone or tablet it will charge the device at high current. But who has a tablet with a standard USB input for charging anyway? No adaptor supplied. The port on the end says 'input' (in the manual) but is a bit of a mystery - presumably if you have a male-to-male lead it could be charged that way (not supplied). A simple, clearly-labelled input and simple, clearly-labelled outputs would make this product a lot better, I feel. Why not supply a short male A to male A lead (or better, build it in to that mystery input port), to have a sole input, and leave the other USB an output only? The lights are another slightly confusing issue - and now I think I know why the last power bank I had (different make) popped the transformer.... you press the button and it flashes the lights for about a second to indicate charge level - but I thought that when they went out again, it meant 'flat' (and the initial flash was to say 'acknowledged'). The flashed LEDs are the true battery level. I nearly tried to charge it further! (The manual *does* state to charge fully first time, implying it is flat.) It's also quite weighty. Let's hope its ability to charge my phones is superior!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sturdy and robust This is handy to have when i am away camping for a weekend. Got nowhere near 5 charges though. More like two charges, so a bit disappointed.

It will charge any rechargeable device that can be connected to it via it's standard USB connection cable. As long as you have the right USB charging cable for the device you wish to use it will work fine.
