About this product

Product overview

• Single phone set, which uses DECT technology to reduce interference from outside sources
• Built-in nuisance call blocking to stop telemarketers and withheld numbers from ringing you
• 60-minute answer machine so you don’t miss any important calls
• Cordless phone so you can roam freely

What is the benefit of having a cordless phone?
Cordless phones allow you to be mobile while still talking. This means you aren’t restricted to a set distance, like you were with older corded phones. With a slim and compact design, you will find that carrying this phone around in your pocket isn’t a burden and makes using the phone comfortable for longer conversations.

How does the call blocking function work?
The BT 8600 includes an advanced call blocking powered by trueCalls technology, which helps prevent cold callers and nuisance phone calls. It does this by asking the caller to say their name and then asks you if you wish to block the caller. Over time the phone learns which numbers you answer and reject. The phone can also store 1000 individual numbers, giving you more options to stop those nuisance phone calls. You can flag your friends and family as VIP in your address book which will allow them to bypass the call blocker.

What sort of answer phone is on this telephone?
This phone comes with a built-in answer phone which stores messages on the internal memory. It is possible to store up to 60-minutes of messages and you can either record your own greeting message or use the standard greeting. Using the answer machine is easy and simple. When you see "new message" displayed on the handset, press the play button and press erase if you want to delete the message.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really does block all nuisance calls After being plagued by nuisance calls and trying everything to get rid of them I finally got fed up and bought this phone. It's been 2 weeks and we have not received a single nuisance call. In my opinion this phone is a much better deal than the truecall box which costs £100. For it to work smoothly it's best to have caller id so your contacts can get straight through (this is £1.75/mo extra on BT). The evidence that it's working is when you pick up the phone you can see a number of missed calls from random numbers. Every day I clear those down - but would prefer not to be notified of these "missed" calls. Compared to our retired good quality Panasonic phone it is slightly more plasticky with clicky buttons and the voice is more robotic, but it has a colour screen and the call quality/volume is fine. It has a keypad lock for those with small children.
