Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Very good, almost perfect! Having gone through the ritual of checking reviews and performance scores for extending the WiFi zone, this ticked all the boxes. Some notes that might assist others; The setup is picky and takes about 5 mins to complete, A helpful configuration tool is available online from BT which makes life a lot easier although no mention of this is contained within the documentation.. It helps to plug the correct one into the router! its the smaller one of the two! Configuring the 'new wifi' to the name of your existing wifi SSID will make life easier if you travel from zone to zone.. Performance was great. I was able to stream TV onto my phone in a part of the garden that previously refused to accept there was a WiFi signal in range! To extend the number of wifi hot spots (maximum 8) is where things get foggy. The documentation lets it down badly and is sufficiently ambiguous to confuse an IT guru and several Maplins techs. Use the excellent BT dedicated helpline to solve any problems, including how to add more hotspots!

I have a BT Broadband Extender 500 kit with a router unit and one extender unit with ethernet cable connection. Can I add a wireless extender unit to the sytem? If so what is the order number/description/price Thank you.

Asked by: Dejarch
You would be able to expand your existing system, at the moment we do not have any single BT WiFi plugs, but you would be able to use a WiFi kit, such as the following, which would allow you to use the additional wired plug in another location as well if required.

The description states it has a passthrough socket for a 13amp plug - doesn't appear so in the image. Is this an error ?

Asked by: MACALLOA
Thank you for pointing this out and yes the description is incorrect . Sorry for any confusion caused .
