Camcaddy is a versatile cradle that powers virtually every type of camera battery. Whether a compact digital, SLR or video camera – Camcaddy does the lot! Its intelligent electronics will automatically detect whether the battery requires a 3.2V input (for compact digital) or 7.2V (for SLRs etc).Simply select the required power supply (in-car or mains: both supplied) for instant charging. Please note:CamCaddy is designed to power block batteries that can be removed from a camera. It cannot accept camera batteries that require blade contacts or AA/AAA rechargeable batteries.Only batteries under 5V can be charged if connected to a PC/laptop or the original FreeLoader solar charger.Universal Charging Capability:CamCaddy will power virtually every type of "block" style, lithium-ion battery, whether from a camera, mobile phone, PDA or GPS.Intelligent information:CamCaddy’s LEDs give a clear indication of battery charge status – press the silver power button to indicate the level of charge, from 25% to 100%. Camcaddy gives a clear a warning (red LED) if a battery has been inserted the wrong way (i.e positive to negative and negative to positive) – thus ensuring battery damage is not caused by a reverse polarity connection.Simple to use:Camcaddy is easy to use. Just position the battery between the silver support bar and CamCaddy’s adjustable contact pins, select the required power supply (in car or mains) and you’re ready for instant charging.Use in over 130 countries:Camcaddy is supplied with three power supply attachments:1). USB cable: connect to any PC or laptop for instant power2). In car: connect to any 12v in car socket for instant power3). Mains: supplied with UK, Europe and USA compatible plugs means Camcaddy can be used in over 130 countries

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea but... Note that the mains adaptor and 12V connector have standard USB3 connectors which should output 5 to 5.5 V. But the adaptors supplied output over 9V, so if you connect a standard USB device into them they will experience a higher voltage than expected. This may be fine or may cause problems. I'm not really happy having standard connectors providing higher, non-standard voltages. If the charger did take in 5V and charge >7V batteries that would be great. Could use with normal PCs as the power source. This would be technically possible, but they charger as supplied can't do this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from About half the cost of a repacement charger for a digital camera battery, but it did the job just as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seems like a great idea, but the pins aren't spring loaded very well and refuse to make contact properly - maybe mine's just a duff one, but it's going straight back as it either thinks my flat battery is fully charged or not connected - neither of which are true.
