Product overview

A plug for connecting car accessories to the vehicle’s12-volt supply via the cigarette lighter socket. The plug has a continuous current rating of 2A (3A at 12V) and a maximum short term rating of 10A. These plugs require a soldered connection.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pile of junk!! Got this home expecting to be able to take it apart and solder it together nice and quick, but this is absolute rubbish, no where to connect or solder wires and there is no LED as shown online. Taking this straight back to the shop

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very basic Normally I expect better of Maplin items. This is very basic. I was expecting screw terminals. Inside there is NOTHING. The -ve connection, which is made via the side springs, well, all there is *is* the spring, which is chrome, smooth, and has no obvious place to connect a wire. Also the picture implies there's a LED - there isn't.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Confused! This plug has no obvious connections, locations or crimps for soldering on a cable. No instructions either. Can anyone at Maplin adise me, please?

Asked by: Daniel
1 wire goes to the center tip and 1 wire to the spring clip, that you are unsure is a little worrying. If you have any doubts about wiring this device please seek assistance from a qualified auto electrician.

What size is the fuse is fitted in this?
Asked by: Ben
Um...the description clearly states "UNFUSED", so I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it has no fuse. Where someone got 10A from, I do not know. Perhaps the description changed in the past two years...

If your cool box is designed to be plugged into a 12 vehicle socket - then yes this item will be a perfect replacement for your damaged one.
