Hi. I''m looking to extend my network by about 30 metres, and I''m confused between this cable, the "Cat 5e Network Cable UTP Stranded" cable, and the "Cat 5e Network Cable FTP Solid" - what''s the difference? Which should I use? cheers, Matt.
Asked by: Matt
Stranded cable is usually used in patch leads because it is far more flexible than solid cable and will last longer when moved around a lot. Solid cable is used usually where the cable is permanently installed in place and not moved.

Is this cable suitable for small external runs above ground. eg 16 feet (still use proper money)from ground floor to loft?
Asked by: John Smith
This is not designed for that purpose. However, it will work fine outdoors though the outer sleeve could theoretically deteriate after prolonged exposure.
