Look to the skies
Whether you want to see the face of Jupiter or something closer to home this powerful Newtonian reflector telescope is ideal. With an aperture of 114mm and fully coated lens you get clear, sharp images with a good apparent field of view. The AstroMaster can gather 265 times the amount of light as the human eye and with two eyepieces, one with 50 times magnification and one with 100 times magnification you can get a look at just what’s out there.

Designed to give your viewing clarity
Reflector telescopes are open at one end and use mirrors to collect and focus light for the image. Typically, the apertures of reflector telescopes are larger than their refractors. This means they can see further and fainter objects and have a wider apparent field of view. The bodies of the reflector telescope can be made smaller, all while maintaining the same level of magnification. Reflector telescopes don’t suffer from chromatic aberration, colours appearing around an image, like some refractors. Reflector telescopes display the image upside down. This is normal for astronomical telescopes, but will be noticeable with terrestrial viewing.

Easy to assemble
Easy to use, you can assemble this telescope without any tools and comes with a stable tripod and counterweight system. There is a tray under the telescope to store your alternative eyepiece and other essentials. Control cables give you control over fine adjustments to positioning easily. The sky pointer can help you position your telescope to the right orientation. The sky pointer is powered by one CR1620 battery (not included).

Completely adjustable
The AstroMaster comes on an Equatorial CG-2 mount which can be adjusted to a wide range of positions. By aligning the latitude scale and the setting circles using known points in the sky you can use these to pin point other objects in the night sky. The telescope comes with The Sky X – First Light Edition astronomy software. This includes a 10,000 object database, printable sky maps and 75 enhanced images so you can see exactly what it is you’re looking for. Discover the universe or explore the world around you with this great telescope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Just got this telescope and someone at Celestron need sacking! They have obviously got the wrong price because it is simply awesome and the build quality is superb. It was so easy to assemble and the results are amazing. I have a T adaptor and can attach my camera to it, but unfortunately my first night with it was way too cloudy to see anything. I did however, use it during daylight using the terrestrial lens again the results are fantastic. I would have gladly paid this price for the tripod alone, but I have now used it to take pictures of the moon which make me look like a professional. I am looking forward to finding my way around the night sky better to enable me to take more pictures. I would certainly recommend this scope from beginner to pro alike and due to the price, put the universe in the hands of everyone. Thank you Maplins and Celestron for making me one very happy puppy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable for holidays I needed a small German mount for one of my short tube refractors. It was cheaper to buy this scope as the equivalent mount and tripod only on most astronomy stores charged about £20 more! This celestron model is £40 more on the same sites. Good value and has a dovetail mount. Scope also surprisingly ok for its size.

I put the small lens in the viewer and can't get it out appreciate any help please

Asked by: rad 17
All of the lenses are tapered so they are larger at the top than the eyepiece diameter. To this end they can only slide so far into the eyepiece tube. I cannot visualise any situation where you could place a lens into the eyepiece and not be able to remove it. I would advise you take the item to a store where a colleague can examine the product and try to suggest a solution.

Do I need to purchase a moon filter separately for this telescope?

Asked by: Lynn
I would strongly advise the use of a filter if observing for long periods of time. The moon is very bright when viewed through a telescope and can cause eye strain.

Hello, Is there a bag I can purchase with this? Also what other accessories are essential if purchasing as a gift?

Asked by: Lizzy
Sorry we do not have a bag for the telescope. The Celestron AstroMaster Accessory Kit makes an ideal addition to any telescope using 32mm (1.25 inch) eyepieces

I am thinking of buying this telescope as a Christmas present with the idea of attaching a camera to take photos and am enquiringly if there is an adaptor for a Sony cybershot HX350 camera that also fits the telescope. Many thanks.

Asked by: David
Sorry I am unable to find a T-Adaptor for the camera you mention Typically for Astrophotography you would need a computerised telescope with guidance capability and a DSLR camera with a T-Adaptor in order to attach it to the telescope. and patience ... lots and lots of patience

Can this telescope be used for terrestrial as well as looking at planets or does it need another lense?

Asked by: Twomillers
It can be used however the image would be back to front and upside down due to how the reflector works.

How bulky is this telescope with tripod folded. Is it suitable for taking on holiday away from cold, cloudy, polluted London skies?

Asked by: Sharkey
This would be fine to use for your intended application. The weight and size of the item is listed in its specification.
