What can I see with this telescope?
Explore the universe with this powerful telescope. See the rings of Saturn, track comets across the night sky or even catch far off nebulae. With a wide 130mm aperture you have a wide field of view so you can see more in an image and it can gather up to 345 times the light of the human eye. The AstroMaster 130EQ has a fully coated lens for a clear, crisp image and comes with two eyepieces, one with a 33 times magnitude and another with a 65 times magnitude.

Why choose a reflector telescope?
Reflector telescopes are open at one end and use mirrors to collect and focus light for the image. Typically, the apertures of reflector telescopes are larger than their refractors. This means they can see further and fainter objects and have a wider apparent field of view. The bodies of the reflector telescope can be made smaller, all while maintaining the same level of magnification. Reflector telescopes don’t suffer from chromatic aberration, colours appearing around an image, like some refractors. Reflector telescopes display the image upside down. This is normal for astronomical telescopes, but will be noticeable with terrestrial viewing.

How easy is it to assemble?
Easy to use, you can assemble this telescope without tools and comes with a stable tripod and counterweight system. There is a tray under the telescope to store your alternative eyepiece and other essentials. Two control cables give you control over fine adjustments easily. The sky pointer can help you position your telescope to the right orientation. The sky pointer is powered by one CR1620 battery (not included).

How easy is it to align my telescope?
The AstroMaster comes on an Equatorial CG-3 mount which can be adjusted to a wide range of positions. By aligning the latitude scale and the setting circles using known points in the sky you can use these to pin point other objects in the night sky. The telescope comes with The Sky X – First Light Edition astronomy software. This includes a 10,000 object database, printable sky maps and 75 enhanced images so you can see exactly what it is you’re looking for. Discover the universe or explore the world around you with this great telescope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The telescope is of good build quality for the price. Sturdy tripod, clear images and easy to track and focus. Setup took about 20 minutes no tools needed. Brilliant telescope for beginners. 9/10 for value.

Is there an accessory that will convert the image to the right way up?

Asked by: jackie1972
Yes you would need an erecting eyepiece, however the image will appear rotated over perpendicular to the angle of the tube, also it can place the image out of the focal range of the telescope. You can read about the advantages and problems of using an erecting eyepiece by researching online. The following websearch may prove helpful

Does this telescope work with Maplin's 5mp imager?

Asked by: Oliver
Yes it would work with it. If you intend to use the imager for Astrophotography then a telescope with the ability to track would be better suited.
