Product overview

• Low-cost, versatile and compact battery tester
• Suitable for checking the state of both alkaline and rechargeable batteries
• Will test AAA, AA, C, D, 9V PP3, N and button cell batteries
• Lets you know when the battery is good, needs recharging or replacing
• Uses the power of the battery you are testing to power itself - no need for additional batteries
• Dimensions: 62 x 61 x 29mm

A great pocket sized little gadget that tells you when your batteries are dead or need recharging. Easy to use and stops you throwing away perfectly good batteries. One battery can be tested at a time and the meter indicates the capacity of the battery.

When testing a battery, the state is shown as ‘Replace’, ‘Weak’ and ‘Good’ on the meter. The spring-loaded arm is used for testing ‘N’, ‘AAA’, ‘AA’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ size batteries, while 9V PP3 batteries are held against two contacts on the bottom of the unit. In addition, the spring-loaded arm can also be used to test button cells from watches and calculators. This unit is not suitable for testing CR123 batteries.

Please note: The unit draws up to 220mA from the battery being tested, so button cells should not be tested regularly! If a button cell has a rating of less than 220mAh, it should not be tested using this charger as the charger will completely discharge the cell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this today after reading the one review and was really pleased with the purchase. It small compact and pretty easy to use. One thing though that's is not clearly indicated is at the bottom of the device is for testing 9v PP3 batteries, where you'll see to metal discs (one large and one smaller the larger for metal disk connects to the negative of a 9v battery and the smaller to the positive). Because if you connect the 9v between the two connectors on the top clamps it will give a higher reading! Thought I would point that out. Otherwise great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this as a gift for my partner, who is disabled and only has the use of one hand. Although it was at least partly to stop her hassling me to get out my multimeter, this little beauty has proven so easy to use and accurate that I've started using it myself! Great value for money too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought the compact battery tester to test Duracell AAA batteries. However this sort of tester does not test the battery under a load and while the needle may show a good voltage the battery may be 'dead' when under load.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This battery tester is useless. Even completely duff batteries show a reading of good. There is no fine scale against which you can judge whether a particular battery is failing, just 3 useless bands: replace weak or good. Dont bother with one of these if your requirement is critical; the tester will give you no indication of how much charge you can expect to find remaining in your battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just about worth having I bought three as presents. Tested against a £30 German super=tester on 30+ batteries... AA and AAA calls anything over 40% GOOD Lithium button cells calls 2016s at 100% FAIL Lithium CR 123A at 70% - OFF THE SCALE GOOD! So - it will prove dead cells are dead; on low current devices you can rely on its diagnosis but batteries will die sooner than you expect. For high current devices, unusual cells, Li buttons - you need something better. 100% accurate with a dead 0v. PP3 and a brand new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful little gadget I have retested batteries I had put out for recycling over the last few months using the brilliant bit of (cheap!) kit. Half that I was throwing out tested good (clearly paired in an appliance with a dud) so it's paid for itself already.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bought three, one each for my daughters with children and one for myself. The pins are set at an angle and you have to jiggle the AA and AAA batteries around to make contact. For heavy use, could do with a larger gadget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value and easy to use! Very quickly helped me work through a pile of AA batteries and see which ones were worth keeping. Also worked well on same flat lithium ones.
