Get a real challenge with this rotating 3D maze. The object is simple - get the wand from the bottom entrance to the top exit without touching the sides and setting off the alarm, all while it’s in constant motion With 41 parts the fun starts as you build your maze. The six panels that make up the maze paths can be used in any one of 120 possible combinations giving plenty of new and interesting mazes. Time how long it takes to find your way out then challenge your friends and family to beat your time.
What does this teach?
This simple looking maze has a lot going on inside. Building and playing it helps you understand how an electronic circuit is made. A core aspect of this is demonstrated if the wand touches the pillars, completing the circuit and sounding an alarm. It also teaches you how motors and gears work to create the rotating motion which makes it even more of a challenge for you to reach the top. The maze spins using different gears, worm gears change the direction of the rotation and the two interconnecting toothed gears slow the maze down to the right speed. This mirrors the setup of most analogue clocks and many other geared objects so you can get a sense of how they work in the real world.
