What can you do with this kit?
Shoot and score with this aiming game but it’s not as simple as that. The challenge is to get the basketball through the hoop using the catapult while it’s moving. Challenge yourself as to how long it takes to sink a ball or how many you can do in a set time then compete with friends and family to beat your score. Move the ball further away for more of a challenge. Improve your hand eye coordination and have fun with this basketball shooting toy.

What does this teach?
This kit teaches you about the different types of motion and the use of mechanical parts. The motor produces rotary motion with a 360 degree rotating shaft while the hop uses linear motion in a side to side direction. There are many ways to transfer rotary to linear motion but the most common are a rack and pinion like a cannel gate and cams which is what this kit uses. A cam is a rotating piece that’s shape causes another object touching it to move. The gearbox cap is the piece that causes this change in direction in this Connex 38812N kit. The kit also demonstrates using a lever to catapult an object. With 19 parts this is a fun and easy way to learn about electronic and mechanical kits.

Mix and match with Connex
Be creative with your kit by mixing components with other Connex kits (take care to match power requirements). No soldering is required with this kit, all the components can be connected using the supplied wires fitting into the springs on the board. No need to worry about losing pieces, the kit comes in a box that doubles as a base to assemble the kit on and a storage box when you tidy it away. This kit requires one AA batteries (sold separately Order Code <L43AL>).

This kit should be used with adult supervision and assistance and is suitable for children aged 8 and over.
