Rated 1 out of 5 by from I purchased this from Llandudno store, after connecting it up as it was Christmas the nuisance calls had temporarily stopped, however when they restarted they came through. Investigation showed that with this plugged in I lost the caller ID function so no phone number no blocking. I contacted CPR tech support who suggested I connected in parallel rather than series as it says in the manual. I did and it worked even worse than before. The unit consumes more current than the phone system can supply so does not work, as there is no socket for external power the unit is useless. Last CPR product I ever buy, forget the marketing hype and make sure you can return it if it does not work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works! We were having a host of unwanted calls so a friend suggested we get a call blocker because his has been brilliant over the years. It has only been connected for about a week but so far no nuisance calls. Looking forward to using the big red button. If our friend's experience is anything to go by - and we have an improved model - then we are in for a very much quieter life. Seems a shame that we have to spend money to stop others causing a nuisance, but at least we have a means of doing so. Fortunately the unit is compact and well designed, fitting neatly and unobtrusively beside the telephone with a very clear display. A worthwhile purchase. The service from Maplins has been exemplary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Device! If you are getting calls that you really dont want to be getting, then this is the device for you! I purchased this device from my local Barnstaple store. Whilst the Maplin website states that its a CPR 201, I actually got a 202, which is a newer version which has features added to it, however these features will only be useful to you if you live in the United States! So even if you do end up with a 201 version, it will still do EXACTLY the same job as a 201 in the UK. Very simple to program by using a phones keypad to enable certain features. There was a review that states that withheld numbers are always blocked, this is NOT the case! Whilst you can indeed block all withheld numbers, you can also disable this feature by entering a code into your existing phones keypad while the CPR CallBlocker is connected to the phone line. Just for reference, all call blocking features were disabled when I first connected the CPR CallBlocker. So you will have to enable each feature that you want to use. I looked at getting different phones that had call blocking features instead of this device as the block list in my existing Panasonic DECT phones are full!. I looked at the BT 8500 Advanced Call Blocker phone at first, but this requires the caller to say their name before the phone rings, too much hassle and not ideal for me so I went with the CPR CallBlocker. With this device it does not matter what phones you use as it will stop the calls before it even reaches the phones! Its also worth mentioning that the device is powered by the phone line itself, so does not require a separate power supply, it also keeps all settings after a power failure or after being disconnected from the phone line. Highly recommend this device for anyone who's had enough PPI or marketing calls from India trying to sell you electricity!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bit of kit I brought this some time ago so it's well tested, from the Folkestone branch where the staff are very helpful, programme those nuisance numbers in, even the unavailable foreign call centres can be blocked

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use and effective No need for seperate power supply, it works off the telephone line. Very easy to set up, it blocks withheld, international, not available,VOIP 0000 groups but they all have to be activated individually and I am not sure if you can unblock an individual number within any of these groups. You can also add individual numbers and area codes. This covers the vast majority of nuisance calls that I had been plagued with. If you receive a nuisance call from a new number answer it and hang up then press the big red button, that number is now blocked... Simples :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The large red button I bought this item quite a while ago, and let me tell you it was the best thing I ever bought. The big red button is wonderful ( don't want to speak press the red button.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CPR201 Call Blocker I have used this successfully now for many months without any problems at all. The instructions to manually input blocked numbers is useful as is unblocking numbers that have been mistakenly added. Answer the phone, let the caller speak, then hit the red button if a nuisance - gone!! Brilliant!

I've got a router connected to my main phoneline. Does the call blocker have to be plugged into that or straight to the phone (a cordless?)

Asked by: Steve12
Page 1 of the user guide we have provided on the list covers this in detail https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/CPR-201-USER-GUIDE-10044.pdf • We recommend that you connect the CPR Call Blocker to a telephone at the main telephone socket (The first point where the connection comes into your property). Intermittence and extension ringing issues may arise if the CPR Call Blocker is connected to telephones that are plugged into extension sockets.
