Product overview

• Need to add a phone line to another room it fast and simple with this wireless phone extender• Quickly turns ordinary electrical sockets into telephone outlets• DECT technology means it works faster and quieter and it has an all round higher specification• Suitable for use with a PC, set top box, telephone or fax machine• Wirelesss range up to 50m• No extra wiring required and it is completely portable• Compatible with PC modems• Can even be used in your garage or garden shed if you have mains supplied to the them• Data transmission speeds up to 36kbps

Operates by simply plugging in the base unit near to the master telephone socket, a through connector allows connection to the master socket without interrupting the existing phone. Can then be plugged in anywhere in any room where a mains socket is located to give an additional telephone socket without having unsightly cables. Great if you are creating an office out of a spare bedroom. This item can be used on an ADSL Enabled Telephone Line, but, you will need to use an ADSL Filter to separate the ADSL Signal from the connection to the Extender (as it cannot carry an ADSL signal, which means it is not suitable for use as an extension for your broadband connection).Additional slave unit available: Order Code A18JF

Rated 1 out of 5 by from REALLY WANTED THIS TO WORK Bought this to help an elederly lady who needed 2 phones but did not want the cables etc. Worked perfectly for a while and then the remote stopped rining. Reconnected everything but still no joy. Took the remote back to Maplin who were brilliant. Exchanged it no problem. Still would not work. I assumed it must be the electrics in the lady's house so I brought the phones back to mine and tried connecting at my home...sadly, still would not work. I am now out of guarantee and am having to look for an alternative given the unreliability of this one...may be just bad luck as it did seem to work originally., Really disappointed as a perfect solution...if the one we bought worked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I found that this didn't work with my BT Diverse phone, because the bell wire isn't passed through. However then I found that if you fit an ASDL filter to the output of the extension unit, it re-generates the ring, and it all works well. Also worth knowing that each extension unit can either do phone or fax, but not both together. If you want both, you need two extension units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from bought for a sky box, left it for installer to connect he had no problems with it and activated two sky boxes with it, so far no problems with it, I've one in the living room, and a second slave unit in an upstairs bedroom

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well on newer phones, but doesn't transfer CallerID to phone. However, on older phones the bell doesn't ring, although you can call out and answer calls. Also with a DECT cordless phone connected, any incoming call is answered on the first ring, even though the phone hasn't gone off-hook. I can see it could be useful in some situations, but more guidance on what it can and can't do would be appreciated.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I bought this to extend a line into a small outside office about 20 metres away. The two modules connected wirelessly straight away and at first seemed perfect for the job. When I picked up the handset of my phone there was a ring tone. The problem was that incoming calls would not make the phone plugged into the remote unit ring. The red "incoming call" light on the phone would come on but the best noise it could produce was a very faint click. I then tried a fax machine with phone and the same problem, no incoming ring. Maplin exchanged the unit as we assumed it must be faulty but the replacement behaved the same. I then tried a third type of phone and it rang. So obviously the remote unit is rather fussy about the type of phone plugged into it. It works ok with a credit card machine (no need for ringing). I now have a Panasonic dect phone plugged into the remote unit and although it rings for incoming calls there is an issue with outgoing calls. I pick the handset up and get a dial tone, dial a number and then instead of dialling I get the dial tone back. Switch the power off and on again to the remote unit and it works perfectly. Maybe the dect Panasonic is interfering in some way? In conclusion it is basically a useful piece of kit bit there are quite a few issues. It may work perfectly for you or maybe not. The bottom line is that there is nothing better than a proper wired extension, avoid wireless if you can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant product - simple to set up. I also purchased an additional slave unit, now both my Sky HD boxes are connected and I got rid of messy wiring around the house. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Required to link a Sky box to a secondary phone line where wiring was not an option. The set-up was very easy and without problems providing you READ the instructions with regard to setting the master unit for the correct application. It has been working without any problems since installation, some 10-days, and I have been impressed enough to look to extend the functionality to other areas where conventional wiring is an issue.

I have an existing dLan network (devolo) throughout my home. Would the signal from this interfere with the network signal.

Asked by: Andy1503
No your powerline will be unaffected as these use DECT technology to transmit between each other not powerline technology.
