What sort of pests does this device repel?
This outdoor repeller is designed to keep foxes, cats and other animals away from your garden with a spray of water. This device is easy to use – simply connect it to a standard garden hose for the water supply, and fix it anywhere in the ground with the fitted stake.

The device activates using a passive infrared (PIR) motion detector, which functions over a distance of up to ten metres. The PIR sensor is battery powered, which means you can position the unit in the best place in your garden.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Possible design problem with battery contact Just Bought this, on setting it up is sprayed all the time even with batteries removed so looked like the valve was stuck open, had to blow and suck on the inlet to free the valve. Then it wouldn't spray at all and found too much plastic near the left battery plus terminal that was not letting my Duracell battery to contact, had to jam some foil in to make the battery contact properly. Then had to mess around with a spring on the nozzle that wasn't installed correctly. However, after much messing about and adjustments, it does work very well I have to admit after testing.

I keep changing batteries twice a week, else the equipment will keep spraying continuously. Any recommendations on how to reduce my running cost

Might the PIR detect pigeons or are they too well insulated with their feathers?

Asked by: Kevman
Mine did detect a bird and sprayed the other day, so I would say yes. You can adjust the sensitivity of the PIR sensor, so with some experiment and adjusting, it should do what you want. Mine is certainly protecting a small area of re-seeded lawn very well from birds and cats, and watering the seeded area when the device is triggered is a bonus.

What is the pattern of water spray? Ie., quarter/90degrees or half/180 degrees directly in front of the PIR. Or can this be adjusted?

Asked by: Struddy
The distance of the spray can be adjusted (there is a min-max adjuster on the nozzle assembly). Also an error on the description, it requires 2 batteries and not 4.

do i have to keep my tape turned on all the time on then? will that not result in water spillage and water logging?

Asked by: xile
If you want the item to spray water it would need an active water supply yes. Good quality hose connections should prevent leaks.
